Cold Steel 4 Max

Fair enough, but hollow or flat I wouldn't worry about the strength of the blade. Plus I'd rather see them stay true to Demko's design. Though if I could have it any way I'd opt for the "large hollow grind" or whatever Chris Reeve is calling the grind on the Sebenza 25. I really dig that and it lends to a beefier feel.

Of the hollow ground blades I like they all have at least a 12" wheel or larger.

From the video from IWA 2015 show, it looks like it will have flat grind like the ultimate hunter:

The edge looks super thin from the video btw, for those who worried that it will not cut as well as hollow ground. Thumbs up for the flat grind.

Awesome! Totally agree, double thumbs up for the flat grind!:thumbup:

*Edit: just watched the video and I don't know if I agree... it honestly looks hollow to me :/ can we get the Cold Steel rep to weigh in here? I mean I'm buying the knife either way, but I still would like to know!

*Edit 2: Just watched it again, and the blade is definitely hollow ground on the one in this video.

Maybe it is just me, but the more I look at the 4-Max picture, the more I'm inclined to see it as a folding version of the Viper Tank knife by Tommaso Rumici...

I agree with you. Just like the CS Ultimate Hunter is a folding version of the Loveless Drop Point Hunter.

Since all human hands are basically the same, there are only a finite number of "ideal" designs, before the design starts shifting towards the impractical or ugly. The designs that are close to "ideal" are the ones that are followed by knifemakers and designers. There are some folks who seem to take it as a personal offense if someone or another company makes a knife that looks like someone elses'. I disagree with that view.

So does anyone know if the 4 max is going to be flat ground yet? I'm eyeing it hard but I'd like to know. I can't quite tell from the trade show video that's floating around.

I noticed that Knifeworks has this up for preorder. They don't usually put a knife on preorder unless its release is imminent.

Yes, Knifeworks has announced this on their Facebook page.

So, it shouldn't be too much longer for it to be made available.
