Cold Steel AD-10 question

I disassembled knife and switched the pins.
Guess what? Nice and tight now. Damn, the two pins look nearly identical.
My son had decided to fool around with the knife and disassembled the knife to clean and lube. He's been doing this to a lot of the knives I own. Didn't mention it to me till I started taking it apart. LOL!
Thanks for all the advice and feedback.

Yup, incredible, yet true. Glad you're gtg now!

I've got a couple custom AD10's and sold a couple more...the Cold Steel factory AD10 is an amazing model very close to the custom, and that is worth every penny, imho.

Interested in knowing more about GSM's customer service - or lack thereof. I've never needed it in years and years of Cold Steel, but would like to know that it's there.

There are a couple brands whose knives I like but will not purchase them because of abysmal customer service - according to multiple reports.

I've got my ad10 lite in route to me I can't wait! My other cs are tuff lite and finn wolf. My finn wolf had a extremely slight side to side flex but no up and down.

I just bought a Lite too and it's amazing. Makes me wonder why I need the regular one! LOL!

Return to the seller ! If possible .

GSM not known for great warranty service .
yeah that's the proper procedure, don't try to get ahold of the manufacturer directly, they will tell you to get a replacement from the vendor 9/10 times

Wow! He needs to keep his hands off your stuff! Glad it was a simple fix.

My boy is actually good at knife disassembly. I'd have messed the pins up too. It's nearly impossible to tell the difference between the two.

Is it the pins in front of and behind the lock that need to be switched?

Yes, if someone has mixed them up previously. The only two pins which go all the way through the handle and are visible without disassembling.

My AD10 lite came new and you can feel slight movement if you push on the blade using the handle on a hard surface i wonder if switching the pins will help, and if they were put in wrong at the factory. Not a big deal to me i know its strong but it woulda been nice if it was rock solid...

In my experience, and I’ve disassembled a lot of tri-ad knives, when it’s the stop pin/lock pin mix up the blade play is obvious.

On occasion they will have slight vertical blade play from the factory, and the lock needs to wear deeper into the notch in order to seat well. This can be overcome by normal use over time, or by opening hard repeatedly, or (least recommended) sanding the lock surfaces.

I know on the voyagers one of the pins has a extra line grooved into it. so I take a picture of the pins before I start removing everything. so if its a month later before i put it back together, just refer to the picture.
