I am haveing trouble choosing between these two knives.

The concern i have is the ak-47's tip seems to be weak and i am worried that if i stab it into wood and do a prying motion it will snap.

The american lawman seems to have the stronger tip but i dislike the fact that it has a choil that takes up alot of the cutting edge it could have had.

i know i will happy with either but i wanted to know your thoughts

Personally, I like the tip on the new AK47s. Its nice and acute. I also like that the AK has a wave plate.

tough choice, both look nice and simlar. I think the AK had more of an "edge" to it. So basically whatever you prefer in style I would say, but I'm not too familiar with the specs on either one. But I've handled an AK and really liked it. I would have one if funds were up.

I like the American Lawman. In fact I am waiting on a custom one that Andrew Demko is making me! I am not a wave fan so I would pick the American Lawman over the AK 47. Good Luck! Kevin :D

I have both and much prefer the Lawman. Its probably an aesthetic thing, as each is built tough and quite a value IMO. But the Lawman has a look and feel to it that appeals to me more than the AK-47. Nothing wrong with the AK, and its a fine piece of knife.

AK-47.

Don't forget about the Recon 1. My Lawman has a lot of spring pressure when opening (this seems to be universal, though you get used to it), and the Recon 1 opens just a little easier:

I'd post a pic but can't right now, the tip on the AK is plenty thick and you have no worries of breaking it. I have a original AK so I guess thats why I like it more, the lawman was nice but I didn't like the more difficult opening (studs are not that great).

The AK is a more "scary" knife though, ideal defensive blade but not sheeple friendly.

Love the Ak, the full size and the mini are some of my favorite knives. I think they are more ergonomic and cooler looking than the lawman. However, I only held a lawman for about 30 seconds. For what it's worth

Just got the new AK-47 in the mail today. Still playing with it but I love it so far. Not sure if it will replace my Blur as my EDC yet. By the way, hello to everyone as I'm new to the forum.

The American Lawman would be my choice, but I'd also give serious consideration to the Recon 1 with a tanto blade. It gives strength to the blade and, particularly, to the point. But it's available in other configurations as well.

Both are decent knives, but if you think you may break the points, give the tanto a good look.

Lawman - you will like the choil - it allows for choke up so you can do fine detail cutting and have full control over the knife.

Decent knife for the money.
