Cold Steel Bushman, ok for the $$?

definately, try a search on the knife reveiw forum use bushamn as a keyword. it is a great little beater.

I bought one a while ago.

The edge nneded work when I got it. It was FLAT in soem spots (liek an axe from the store!) and in oen spot it looked like the edge was cut. By this I mean, well, it will take me too long to post what I mean.

But, it was WELL WORTH the money! Why? A good sharpening session took care of any problem I had. I haev thrown it at targets and it is a great thrower for that. I have attached it to a pole and used it as a throwing spear. I have used it at granny's house clearing plants and doing other cutting chores. My fater even borrowed the knife to use it as an insulation cutter! For a blade that youc an beat up, yet still is able to cut, it is great. This is no sharpened prybar, but it is still a very resiliant knife, and cuts way better than many thick knives out there. And it is cheap!

Definitely put one on a pole and have fun with it in your yard or something. They are great to throw.

I have had my Bushman for about a year and have used it on numerous occasions even as a spear for fun. It is definately worth the money and fun to throw as a spear. The only downfall I found was the sheath, but for the money what can you expect. I feel it would be a good buy.

I gave one to a friend to keep in his old truck (because mine worked so well for the money). He decided to replace the ancient aluminum camper shell. He went to an aluminum recycling place but they wouldn't take it unless it was in pieces less than 3 ft. by 3 ft. About the only tool he had was the Bushman so, as the recyclers watched in amusement, he took it out and cut/tore/broke the old shell down to acceptable size. A little sharpening and it was good as new. The recyclers all wanted to know what it was and where he got it.

If I'm wearing a fixed blade while canoeing/rafting whitewater, I like the Bushman because if I lose it, I'm out less than $20. With a more expensive knife, I used to worry about the retention system being adequate. Fortunately, kind-hearted Forumite OwenM gave me a snug kydex sheath for my Basic 5 so I may be able to use it. It is a somewhat more convenient size.

They are an excellent knife for the money. I bought 6 on closeout for $10.00 ea. and I put one in each car, one with each med kit and scattered the others around where they would be useful.
