Cold steel Bushman survival kit

still thinking on it. Something like a Spark-Lite and tinder, fishing line, hooks, sinkers. I live in Washington state and there is alot of rivers and lakes in my area so i think the fishing gear is a good idea. Im trying to come up with a way to cord wrap the handle but i cant seem to get a tight fit on the handle. Any idea's on this would be great. So far i like the Bushman. I got mine on ebay for $15 shipped. It's deff. no Busse but for how cheap it is i dont think you could go wrong. I see it as more of a slicer then a chopper, just a good all-around camper that i can keep in the truck or try out in the camp. Im thinking about getting one more and put in my jeep!

you could wrap the handle with some bike inner tube, then cord wrap it in 550, in like a blaze, or some other bright color to raise the visability.

To seal my handle i just uses a knot of para chord at the narrow upper opening and covered the but with a disk of lenolium held in place by generous amounts of duct tape, I figured if I needed the kit in the field i would put it in my pockets after the initial use.

I may try the cruch tip method. since many people donate their old cruched to rescue squads I always have ample tips around that i sometimes use for walking sticks.

I bet if you ask at a local rescue squad or fire dept they will have some you can have for free.

I had the same problem with mine using some twine. Use hockey stick grip tape or something similar, then cord wrap on top of that. It won't slide around on you, and if you need the cord you still have a good non slip grip.

A nice way to rubberize a handle is with self-adhering rubber seal tape, usually found in the electrical departments of hardware and home stores. It's used to seal wire splices. Sometimes it's called silicone rubber tape, one brand is Tommy Tape. You just stretch it and wrap it on and it sticks to itself, makes a nice non-slip grip. If you remove it, there is no gummy residue stuck to the handle. It's been used for years to wrap tool handles.

I had a roll of that stuff, it worked real good, but I could never find it again.
Just the right amount of tackiness.
