I bought one of these earlier this week...it showed this morning...I strippped off the paint and started chopping, and used it during a small cookout...I love this knife...it is the best of all cheap knives....get one...pics tomorrow, when I sober up.

I think the Bushman is good value too. I like the simple design....and the socketed handle. I have a 'walking stick' that the knife attaches to and this makes a formidable spear.

The factory sheath doesn't seem to be wonderfully secure.

Cold Steel's Bushman is a great knife for a bargain price. Combine a Bushman with a SAK or a Mora and you have a fine combination for the woods and waters.

I own both a large and the smaller Bushman versions. They really are excellent knives for the money...sure, they're not sexy, but they work quite well. In my opinion, they would make excellent 'cache' knives (liberally coated with grease of course). I typically use my other knives (Busse, Fehrman, Seigle), but I really like the smaller Bushman and have often carried it as a backup...sure wouldn't feel under-knifed with the Bushman.

I love this knife like everyone else, but the handle is slippery and insecure, has anyone modded theirs for a better grip?

Hey Guys...

Travis...

Theres been alot of people who have modded their Bushman handles...

Everything from ordinary paracord to epoxy soaked paracord, to Rubber dip, truck bed liner paint and one fellow even did his handle in high quality golf club handle wrap...

I have the mini and I love it. I too stripped the "paint" off the blade and wrapped the handle with paracord. Thinking of spraying the handle with bedliner then get a sheath off of Eric.

Hey Dingo...

If you are interested in a sheath,, order the sheath first Before you modify the knife..

If there are changes made to the handle it may, or will interfere with the sheath..
Once you have the sheath there, you can modify the handle right up to the sheath, without changing anything that would effect the fit of the sheath...

I am going to make a traditional leather sheath for mine...although your sheath is VERY tempting Normark! I was thinking of making a sheath with a firesteel loop and a pouch for my SAK trekker. It just seems like a great combo that is very light and useful.

Anybody know why CS stopped selling the Mini-Bushman knives? I didn't take the Bushman seriously until I bought a couple of them cheap on last year's Christmas sale. I was impressed! Now I wish I had bought a mini or two, too. But I guess the Mora knives fill the same niche as the mini for about the same bargain price.

Hey Guys..

Gunknifenut

Thanks...

The concealex sheath for the Bushman makes a very safe and reliable way to carry the knife.. The OEM sheath that comes with them is pretty lousy...

Excellent sheath Eric. I like the look of that Concealex...pity it isn't readily available down at the bottom of the planet. Shipping costs would make it pretty expensive down here.

I found that my Bushman was too big. I shortened the blade and the handle. Now it is a more practical size and it sits much better in the sheath.

If anyone is thinking of getting a sheath from normark...you totally should they are high quality products, and he is a great guy to deal with...If I have a knife with a slippery handle I usually "ghetto rig" them I slip some innertube from a bicke tire over the handle.... Make sure the knife is secure and the edge is covered when doing this...

As I can say from experience it is extremely easy to slice one fingers open using this method if the edge is not secured.

IMHO, the Bushman is the knife to abuse. If you want to baton, dig, throw and otherwise beat the hooey out of a blade, it's the one to do it to.

Normark makes a great sheath. It has a postive click when it seats-- it's goin' nowhere.

I used leather wrap on the handle-- the stuff made for baseball bats. Keep the wrap clear of the blade end an inch or so if you want a kydex sheath. Some guys just use rangers bands-- cut from inner tubes.

Bushman-Here it is with some friends, 2 Master Hunters and a new knife for me, the BM Activator, in D2 steel, and flat ground, it comes with a decent leather sheath, and its under $85. all in all a cool knife, that I can't wait to abuse with all the others. I really like the Bushman, I ran it on some paper and a strop, its scary sharp!
Hey Normark, I sent you a PM on your sheaths, I don't know if you got it or not, thanks, Gene
