Does anyone have and/or have an opinion on this knife? The price looks hard to beat.

"Made out of 4116 Krupp Stainless steel" A stainless I am not familiar with. I keep looking at this knife from Bark River but there is such a price difference. I know that the Bark River model is A2 tool steel and has much nicer skins and overall finish maybe.

I would like opinions.

Thanks,
KR

Cold steel Canadian belt knife

I have heard good things about all four of the Cold Steel Knives in that series: the Canadian Belt Knife, the Kudu, the Roach Belly and the Finn Bear. I am not a huge fan of Cold Steel knives so I probably won't ever get any of them, but that is what I have heard. I will say that I love the design of the Grohmann knife that the Belt Knife is based off of, and that Finnish puukkos (Finn Bear) and Okapi's (Kudu) are great knives. If you choose to get the Cold Steel versions, they will probably serve you well.

I like that design and have the Grohmann Original both in the Fixed Blade and the Folder. That said, I bought a couple of the CS versions of this knife and am impressed with the edge and overall feel of the knives. So far I have only used them around the kitchen but our deer season opens next week then I will give them a true test. For the 10.00 they cost, I can't see how you could go wrong. Try one and if you don't like it then lay out the big bucks for the Bark River. You may find that you don't need to spend the extra money. If it performs good for you then you have spent all you need to spend. If it don't, you are not out much and will still have a decent knife. I can tell you that they come razor sharp from the box. At least the two I have did.

The Canadian Belt Knife is a great all-around blade. My girlfriend carries one for fishing, camping, etc and isn't interested in carrying anything else even though she could carry a number of higher quality/more expensive knives.

I've never owned a real Canadian belt knife, but I've considered getting Cold Steel's version to see if I like that design. I feel sure it's worth what little money it costs, and I would not be surprised to see them on sale in the CS Christmas sale flyer that'd due out any day now. (You are on their mailing list, aren't you?) That knife and Cold Steel's Roach Belly on that page both look useful to me. I'm pretty sure these are made in China, though, so be aware of that if it matters to you. Go for it! You won't be risking much. I still think Cold Steel's original Bushman is their best bargain.
