Cold steel code 4 vs endura

Being new could have something to do with it. Also the tighter the pivot screw the less snap it has. I learned that by disassembling one. Which is a pain to get the backlock spring and lock in right.

Well I went back to academy and checked out the endura a little closer. Really really like it!! It was an orange model and I already have an orange Dragon fly so I wasnt too sure about the color. But the zdp version is seriously calling my name.... The one I handled at academy had a considerably more sturdy feel. Both it and the delica I looked at had a stronger backspring and snap than my ffg delica that was one of the first flatground models. Is it just because they were new or did spyderco start building them a little stronger?

Was the Delica you looked at a saber ground version? It may not be that its back spring and snap are stronger, but that its blade is heavier. My FFG Delica 4 has a slightly lighter snap than my saber ground, serrated Delica 4, but the FFG blade is thinner and lighter/ has less weight and mass for the backspring to pull closed. Or it could simply be variances in the individual knives themselves. Or maybe there was some crud buildup in the pivot area of your FFG model(?). AFAIK, Spyderco hasn't really changed the strength of the design of the D4.
