Hey all,
New guy here. Though I’ve lurked the site off-and-on for years, I’ve not had occasion to post until recently. I’m cleaning out the closet/raising funds, and I’ve got what I think are some decent knives for sale. In my opinion, this is really the only appropriate community to come to for that, so I coughed up the Gold Membership fee. I apologize for the length of this post, but I think when selling or buying, the more info the better. So, here goes. . .
First up is a Cold Steel Defender I, long out-of-production (yeah, the one in “Platoon”
. It’s the AUS8A version with the ventral groove, made in Japan the year before they were discontinued. I bought this back in college in 1995, and it has been a shelf-queen ever since. I have literally never carried this blade or cut with it. The factory edge has never been touched. It has been stored, well-oiled, outside of the sheath, so it looks like the day I bought it.
The sheath is nearly mint, except for a bit of scuffing on the rear clip and the black is mostly off of the front rivets – I seem to recall it came that way, but it is what it is. It’s minor, but I’m a full-disclosure kinda guy. Sadly, I don’t have the box; I used to throw all of those away in my younger days [facepalm]. I now live in a state which prohibits the carry of double-edge blades, so it’s time it found a new home with somebody who’ll appreciate her. FINAL PRICE DROP (If I can't get at least this much for it, I'll just keep it myself. It's too nice to give away): I’m asking $90 shipped and insured to CONUS.
I’m also throwing in a spare sheath with a bit of wear; it was from another Defender I used to own, but no longer have (it’s a suckfest of a story – let’s leave it at that). It’s got some scuffs, but is a solid user. I’ve got no use for it, so it’s all yours:
----------------------------------
Next, an original SOG Tomcat, my EDC from those college years. The knife has seen use, but not abuse. The blade is in great shape, with few scratches, and still even has a decent edge on it. I added a thumb-stud (I think it was sold as a “One-Armed Bandit”?), but it is held on with a set-screw only and could easily be removed. The metal bolsters have scuffing and light scratches from being hauled around in a pocket and used, but it’s damage-free. There is very little wear on the grip – a lot of the points on the “diamonds” are still sharp. I’ve tried to take the pictures in the least flattering light to show the wear (actually, my wife did so, since she is responsible for the photography).
The lock-up is solid as a bank vault. There is only the tiniest blade wobble if you grab the tip and wiggle it; more felt rather than seen. After all these years, I don’t have the nylon pouch anymore, let alone the box. It’s a user, not a collector, to be sure, but still has a ton of life left. Based on sales of these I’ve seen, and that it has signs of use, no pouch, and no box, I think that $90 shipped and insured to CONUS is fair. - **SOLD**.
----------------------------------
Lastly, I have some old Condor fixed blades, picked up on closeout when on liquidation from the Cutlery Shoppe back when Blackjack folded up shop in ’97:
Condor Model 79S with a Stag scales. This knife has seen some use butchering game, but (in my opinion) is still pretty nice. The blade could stand a sharpening (I’ll let the buyer do that), but has no damage or noticeable wear. The blade does have some scratches, but they are pretty minor; my wife tried to capture them in the least flattering light in her photos.
The sheath is a different story. It’s structurally sound, but cosmetically it has . . .well, issues. I stamped out the logo for a historical re-enactment, and there are various scuffs and dings. As usual for me, there is no box. This one’s a user, though it’s got a lot of good life left. The stag handles are fairly uncommon, so I’d like to get $50 shipped and insured to CONUS for it. - SOLD.
----------------------------------
Two Condor 80S models, with Grey Micarta scales. Neither was ever used or carried. The blades have the factory edge on them, which I must say is pretty atrocious, but they came that way. A good sharpening should take care of that. The sheaths for both are in pristine shape. As before, no boxes. FINAL PRICE DROP : I’m asking $35 each shipped and insured to CONUS. I’ve labeled them “A” and “B” – let me know which one you want.[/B]

Now, the FINE PRINT:
I'll take PayPal or Postal Money orders only.
All prices INCLUDE shipping to the CONUS, which will be via USPS Priority Mail, insured and with delivery confirmation. I’d prefer due to legal niceties and shipping to sell to somebody in the US, but if you live elsewhere PM me and we’ll see if we can’t make it work – I’m flexible. Shipping out of the CONUS will cost you extra, though.
I fully understand that the idea of buying anything from a new member with few posts can put folks off. I myself was hesitant to post, for fear of being “that guy”, but this really is the most appropriate venue for these blades (plus, the rules and 13+% fees associated with you-know-what-auction-site have drive me away from there). So . . .Check my feedback on that popular auction site which rhymes with “okay” (under Tuthmose-iii) and you’ll see I’m honest and good to my word. I take contracts seriously, and will ship within two business days after receiving payment (usually earlier). I also guarantee my description – if anything isn’t as I’ve described or illustrated, you can send the blade back for a refund. All I ask for is a buyer with the same sense of adult responsibility. No scammers or spammers please. You are also responsible for knowing and abiding by the knife laws in your area.
Any questions or for more photos, please drop me a PM or email, and I’ll get right back to you. Thank you for taking a look!
Best regards,
-Ron
