Cold steel, Do they meet their advertising greatness?

Maybe he did some of the proof video tests before he sold it to you :D

Can you take any macro photos of the blade?
i dont got a camera that can take any good clear up close photos :(

10 minutes later... can now cut paper but not hair yet... will continue

half an hour of sharpening and it still isnt even close to what i consider sharp... bout to go talk to my friend and tell him to send it back, this is ridiculous

ill try.. and its by far the dullest knife iv ever gotten out the box

one side is at a like 15 degree angle and the other is at like 45.... its so uneven its pathetic

That's actually very surprising to me. All of the Cold Steel knives I've ever purchased have had very good out-of-box sharpness and very even angles. It sounds like you're on your way to getting a good edge on it, though.

Blade angles on the folders have been fine on the CS folders I have used. My Magnum Kukri came (as previously mentioned) quite dull. I have seen some of the machetes that were sharper so perhaps it is just a QC issue. As far as the knife goes, this Kukri has managed to impress me. I used a small file to get the edge up to par which was basically fairly easy to accomplish. The tool cuts like a dream and is light in the hand. I did buff the handle out a bit to avoid some hot-spots. Tough steel in this machete!

i think maybe its that blade shape that CS doesn't know how to do right or something... i did manage to get it sharp, but it was aggravating.

I own quite a lot of Cold Steel knives (and other products) and have done since the early 90's, but I doubt there are many knife afficinados who don't cringe (or fall about laughing) at their advertising.

If you are working at it on the sharpmaker, and it isnt getting sharper, then the edge angle is to obtuse. You may need to profile the edge to a shallower angle so that the sharpmaker is contacting the actual edge

Same here, I own and owned a lot of their knives since the 80's and never got one that wasn't screaming sharp out of the box.
