Cold Steel Espada

I looked at all of them and the one I like the most is the gayle bradley it looks like a sturdy knife.

It's one of the best value knives I've bought. The M4 steel is tough enough for hard use, but the thin hollow grind (possible because of M4's toughness) makes it an incredible slicer. The fit and finish is better than any of my other production knives, too.

No zt will stand up to the spartan, rajahs or espadas. Not in strength.

Why do you say that? Just because other companies don't show their knives stabbing through car hoods doesn't mean their knives can't do it. Sticking a pin in the middle of a lockback isn't a magical cure-all for strength.

I have done things with my spartan that I know my zt wouldn't stand up to.I have done things with my spartan that some fixed blades might not stand up to.

I don't know why people keep say CS has the worst warranty. I've dealt with it and had no problems(Heck, they even sent me Tootsie Pops).

Whether or not, Tri-Ad is still stronger than the standard Frame and Liner locks by a long shot.

I actually heard that Spyderco could only get Liner locks to hold 150 lbs.(I may be wrong).

I don't see why you'd need a medium Espada though, the upswept blade does not look good in the eyes of the law.

... a good warranty might be a plus. ZT's is the best in the business, but Cold Steel's is the worst.

I highly doubt that that is the case. You are saying that there is not a single knife currently produced whose manufacturer has a worse warranty than Cold Steel's.

i have the small espada and i love it so much that i refuse to carry it until i can buy another. its one of my all time favorites. the only thing is that the steel part of the handles scratch easily, if that will bother you.

You guys just made my day! :)
I'm gonna go with the large Espada now that I know that.
Charlie Mike- how did it feel in your pocket did you relize that it was big for a folder or was it just like any other pocket knife?

It carries well in jeans. I found it to be a bit too big for me. In the end, I had Demko build me a custom mid sized between the 2 models.

Yea i just got a tape measure and did 12 1/4 inches and it seems to be about the max size i would carry. The weight is not bad but it just seems large to me.

I'd say get it. The lock is un- necessarily strong. It's an elegant looking weapon and I rarely describe a knife as such. My only beef is the blade stock on a knife this size should be at least 3/16" instead of 1/8".

Charlie Mike thanks for the photos btw. Im gonna get the large espada ive made up my mind.
Do you guys know if there is some sort of sheath for my ankle that i could wear the zero tolerance in?

No prob. I make you one in leather but I think kydex would be better. You are in CA so I guess that's why you don't wanna ankle carry a fixed blade concealed like my old school CS Urban Shiv (see avatar).

I'm just gonna chime in here and say GET THE ESPADA LARGE! I've been edcing one since October, and it's great. It's gotten a worn look to it, since the bolsters aren't the most scratch resistant, but I like a knife to have character. I like the upswept blade, and how it's sort of bowie shaped but almost persian shaped. The handle design is excellent in that there are very few ways that you could slide along it, because of the big bolster at the top and the smaller little subhilt.

Yea i would carry a fixed blade but like you said i live in california and dont want any issues with the law.
That looks nice thats kinda what i want for the zero tolerance but just like a strap that i can wrap around my ankle

I carry a Black Rhino which I fixed the moving spring issue. I like the triad lock so much especially the models where they have the bolsters that an Espada is in my sights however I'm pushing my luck waiting for deal in the exchange :)

The strongest lock in the market and it looks great, I'd recommend it :)

What about a Tanto Blade?
Whats so special about them is there any advantages/ disatvantages to them?
Im also intrested in those
