Cold Steel Factory Edge Quality

My Cold Steel knives have varied between sharp and extremely sharp on arrival.
All have been easily useable right from the factory.

I hate sharpening a new knife for the first time. Some knives, like Swiss Army knives, come with super-duper edges that are hard to equal in subsequent sharpenings, and when I sharpen a new knife I tend to feel like I'm screwing it up.

I find SAKs to be among the easiest knives to resharpen to scary sharp in no time, especially on my Sharpmaker. It's actually effortless.

Virtually all of my Cold Steel knives have been very sharp out of box. I think only my kukri machete came dull, and being a machete, I expected that.

All of the edges on my Cold Steel folders have come sharp, though some have been mildly uneven.

Machetes (at least through 2016. I don't know if they've improved since then, since the last one I bought was in 2016.) need a lot of work to get a good working edge. They come/came with loads of burrs, uneven grinds, and partial wire edges. They were almost sharp enough to cut warm butter when I got them. (Two Heavy Machete and one large Kukri machete.)

My GI Tanto, 5 Kudu's and 4 Eland's all came very sharp out if the boxes.

every CS knife I have owned came scary razor sharp right out of the box. except the machetes which I knew sucked .
