COLD STEEL FORUMS DOWN FOR GOOD NOW?

I'm very glad that you did this, nephron! Mr. Lauffer's research and hard work on those model histories needs to be preserved.

John, is there any way that you could re-post your histories here, as well?

-Steve

jlauffer - I will agree with what others have said - your information Must be accessible online. Either on this forum or somewhere else. Much to important to lose.

I will also agree with others - the old CS forums should at least be an archive - how much could it cost CS ? In my opinion, to offset that cost, having a 'history' to look up, will help CS's new customers and create new customers as people find the forum and discover the rich and diverse history of CS's items.

Just wondering, has anyone started a petition or something to send to CS ?

all those pages should be on an archive type website somewhere.......i would have thought. i was pretty sure everything was archived somewhere. turns out wayback has some but not every page, so i was wrong....

edit part...i assumed everything was archived...i was wrong so i rewrote the post to match what i found.

I really miss it also pictures and info was vary valuable to me to avoid buying fakes of the older model great stuff they used to make.......

Gosh darn it. There was the best thread ever on the CS Tanto and all it’s iterations.

Oh of course not I didn’t save it that would have been too easy.

OK, sorry for the necro. But I was a member of the other forum and also  when it went down.
I asked a Facebook Representative of CS and this was their answer:

" (My name) actually we had to take it down because of a security risk to both you and us. We’re working on alternate solutions now. We’ll keep you all posted."

This was on March 17, nothing since then

Security risk?

Must be an inherent software vulnerability or BS, but I never got the feeling they worried much about telling it like it is.

I agree with you two, can be many things but I don't buy into the "Security Risk! argument, unless you're referring to the risk to their public image and being open to bashing, criticism, and anonymous insults/threats on the forums they hosted

I at least hope that they saved a cache/backup of all the good info that was there, and like the Rep said "They'll keep us posted" so maybe there's hope for a comeback :)

Shutting down forums because they are no longer supported by their developers is very common.

NOTE: scroll down and look at the the footer of each page here on Blade Forums. It says, "Forum software by XenForo™ ©2010-2017 XenForo Ltd. | XenForo style by Pixel Exit." It is or was developed by XenFro, not the owners of Blade Forums. If XenFro goes out of business, guess what happens to all of this data here. YOU GOT IT.... it goes away just like the Cold Steel forums, because it is a liability to keep it up if it is no longer receiving patches.
