alright... my manager just retured from his manager meeting to tell me we will soon be stocking a new cold steel trailmaster that is indeed made in pakistan and is considerably cheaper... (like 50 bucks retail) im blown away... is he nuts or is this true?

I cant tell you if he is off his rocker or not,but it wouldnt surprise me.

Pakistan knives are insulted around here, but look at some of them...i have seen some of them that i would use,if they were made of better steel, etc. I handled one at the army surplus store, with bone handles. The lock was good,no obvious flaws, just awful steel on the blade.
Given the right materials, im sure the avaerage pakistanesian knifemaker could come up with a good product.at least better than some of the **** coming out of china.

ever faithful to pos knives,
MAURICE

Why am I not suprised at MO's comments, OR at CS's Pakistani connection???

Problem, code??
or is it that you cannot think of anything constructive or helpful to say?

If it's indeed true that Cold Steel is now buying knives from Pakistan, I'm done collecting Cold Steel. (I have sort of moved-on to REKAT knives, anyway...

.).

I have seen knives from Pakistan where the steel was so bad that I couldn't get an edge sharp-enough to cut even warm butter, and I could have bit the blade in-half.

First it was that damn 420 steel in their new knives, and now THIS...

Here's a quote I found in the Cold Steel Special Projects Spring 2001 catalog that I find VERY "interesting":

"Are you sick of those Pakistani numbers that bend like a wet noodle?". This quote is found near the top of the "Peace Keepers" page (page 35)...

WHO CARES WHERE THEY ARE MADE. Remember when stuff from Japan was crap? What about knives that used to come from Taiwan? I could care less so long as they maintain quality. Knives can be made anywhere.
