Cold Steel Gim Chinese straight sword. (jian)
However this is much beefier and heavier than a traditional jian, like those used for taichi and traditional Chinese martial arts. I'm not gonna give you BS descriptions but I will say that this has never been used to cut anything and has been kept clean, oiled and has been polished with Japanese sword powder when necessary. No sharpening, "pimping" or other such nonsense has been performed.
Description:
Specifications:
Weight: 36 oz.
Blade Thickness: 1/4"
Blade Length: 30"
Handle: 7 1/4" long. Rosewood
Steel: 1050 Spring Temper High Carbon Steel
Overall Length: 37 1/4"
Sheath: Hardwood Scabbard with Brass Fittings
Please note that it may take me a few days to get this sword shipped. I have to find the proper packaging long and thin enough for a sword, which seems to be hard to come by unless you have a UPS or FedEx store nearby (neither of which I have.) I am already hunting for packaging to ship a beautiful Paul Chen damascus jian to a gentleman in San Francisco and have yet to find a rectangular box, poster tube, triangular blueprint box or similar that will be thick and strong enough to protect a valuable item that would be very expensive to replace. Please keep this in mind when you make this purchase. I will keep you updated while I am in the process of preparing your item to be shipped. I humbly request that you check my feedback and hope that it speaks for itself.
Asking $250 or best offer but this does not include shipping. I cannot accept any trades at this time. Got my car running, electric bill is current but I need to take care of some other expenses. I accept PayPal and AMEX Serve. No money orders, please. The local Post Offices never seem to have enough cash available to cash them for me.
I am willing to pay the other 50% or more of the price of shipping. This will be very expensive to ship because of the dimensions, not the weight. I will ship via USPS Priority Mail or USPS Parcel Post with full insurance and tracking.
This thread contains a LOT of pictures. I did my very best taking pictures with my limited camera equipment.
There are some fingerprints and other markings on the blade right now that I only noticed after I uploaded the photos to imgur. Most of those markings are from drawing and returning the sword to the scabbard. The blade will be polished with Japanese sword powder or Flitz before I ship it.
