cold steel gurka kukri thoughts

Since the topic of khukuri machetes came up, I'll throw some love their way as well. I've had, for many years, a Cold Steel Light Terrain Chopper (LTC). With it's 1/8" spine, this is the first khuk machete I know of and it has performed extremely well in every chore I've asked it to do. It's not made anymore, but many more companies have added their own versions to the market. CS kept the shape, but went with machete steel in it's own modern version Kukri Machete. HI even has the Tamang, which I believe is a type of khuk long used by Tamang villagers in Nepal and it fits the khukuri machete mold to my eye quite well. I don't have one, but the owners rave about them, as others do about the Condor, Kabar, and Ontario models. I can say that for my uses, a machete type blade works quite well and it's nice to be able to combine my love for khukuri with the superior performance a thin blade has on light vegetation. My LTC has seen horrid abuse, but is rock solid and works wonders. Many of us just love khuks of all sorts and the khukuri machete fits in well with the rest of the family IMHO. Take care.

Carried and abused the $#@% out of the LTC35 Kukri throughout the 90's in Central & South America. No need to carry it in the Middle East. Now that I'm retired, it's used for triming trees and brush.

Best Kukri that was ever put out on the Market IMHO.
