So I managed to get my hands on one of the Cold Steel Knives knife performance DVDs this weekend. It showed countless crazy demonstrations of what they termed "gross abuse of the knife". They had a large chunk of meat which they sewed a up inside thick jean jacket material. The guy then proceeded to make lunging slashes at the hanging targed. They were stabbing the knives through a car hood etc. It was pretty interesting and suprising. I am on the verge of ordering one of several of the Cold Steel Knives models.

Kabster, it seems odd that in every one of your posts you've worked in a link to the same knife dealer. Do you have some connection with that dealer?

I haven't seen any of the Dark Ops field tests. I would be interested to see how they would perform under "abuse" conditions. I have handled them several times and they seem to be very well made knives but I haven't ever really used them.

A guy posted a test vid on a Kabar today:

It's hard to believe, but he tested the knife without any meat pieces or car door. What an idiot. :jerkit: (my sarcasm detector just exploded)

You never saw cold steel tested against al queda body fluids did ya?

SO there! Dark ops rulez, all other droolez.

all the cold steel vids prove is a large amount of force at the right angle will cut a lot of rope and meat. They would not be able to cut near the rope , meat, rice mat, or anything else if they cut in oposite directions. For example if they use and upward swing on the rope or meat it wouldnt have cut it. In the proof dvd the knive contacts the rope bites in and then it stretches the rope till there is more resistance on the rope than the cutting edge. Here is another example. A weedeater cuts through thick weeds with a round or square string. Swing the weedeater line by hand and see how crappy it cuts. It is a matter of energy, momentum, pressure, and experience with a knife. Notice it takes like a 300 lb guy to force all his body weight into the knife to make it perform. The dvds are a crock and there are a lot of knives that outperform them. Tha being said I love cold steel and own many of there products.

That post, and this post quoting it, will have an effect on the rankings at Google and other search engines. In fact, the more that post gets quoted around the net the more effect it will have. If that post gets quoted enough that url could become the #1 hit for Cold Steel Knives :)

If you check his reply to a thread re: cold steel tantos on 12-2, he has already owned several cold steel knives in the past.. I guess the first ones he had didn't cut meat or car doors
