Cold Steel Knives demonstration DVD - Holy cow!

A question has been bothering me ever since I read about Dark Ops knives:
Do Al Queda body fluids have some sort of unique property that US body fluids don't have? It's specifically mentioned...

Yes they have stupid sause flowing through them.Completly different than the blood that flows through us.
It's too bad Cold steel knives are marketed like they are.The ones I've handled are great.
But it's good to know that if the Car Hoods rise against us in an orgie of smashed fingers and pinched hands we have knives that are equal to the task of defeating them.;)

anybody can see that Lynn guy that owns cold steel is a macho nutzo type. i remember my dad getting his catalogs when i was a little girl and seeing him roaming the hills with a huge macho bullmastiff on its pages. his knife fights with red markers and weapons tournaments with less than lethal blades where impressive to a 9 year old. his first adds in outdoor catalogs showed his fixed blade tanto (6" blade i believe) cutting off an attackers thumb at close quarters he billed it as "snake medicine" as the thumb was grasping an colt 357 python. a friend and i watched his "proof" video one day and when he was slicing up a boot sole with a knife we both said that dude is demented. lol, hes sold a lot of knives with his crazy way of pushing them.

I'm going to have to sell my COLD STEEL KNIVES, I just can't stop the urge to go out and put holes in my pickup... Then I'm going to head out to the freezer and get a perfectly good roast and turn it into lunchmeat

I am glad I do not own any CS (I do not want to contribute to the #1 google search of the year :) ) knives, otherwise our place would be "holy"!

A buddy once gave me his CS video. The only entertaining part was some of the sword demonstrations. That Two-Handed Great Sword - OMG was that thing big! I was half tempted to buy it (until sanity sunk in). I did joke with my Wife about it, since we have had a cat problem in our neighborhood. I could buy this sword and chase after the cats in the backyard with it. But the last thing I need is to be thrown in jail for cutting a cat in half with a big CS sword!

LOL that's great!!
"honest officer,i was in fear for my life. All those mal-mourished little mangy critters were a threat to me and my family.......Wadda you mean you can't use a 2 hand sword to kill cats.......yeah but did you see the tip penetration when it hit your door??"
most akward police report ever.
I'm not ragging on you. It's just a funny thought.

About the Cold Steel Knives DVD.
Did you get that for free?
Or was it paid for?

The thing with those test is, first, you have to know that Mr Thompson is into the Martial Arts or Self Defence kinda thing. So he tends to project his range of knives as some form of warrior's choice of back-up protection tools. This naturally doesn't go down too well with people who want knives beyond the purpose of a cutting down ninjas or wayward melons.
However, most of his material works because they are simple and uncomplicated knives. Also most of the products are not high end or beautifully made in line with the type of quality in which one would come to expect based upon the CS's suggested retail price. Buy what you may, and enjoy what comes from owning a real Cold Steel knife. The thrill lies in viewing the amazing DVD and not in owning the product, sad to say.
If chopping is your thing, get a real nepali kukri, it should cost less than a CS product. On this account, Mr Thompson is absolutely right about the devastation a sharpen product has on organic matter.

Hey, officer, I was just exterminating these vermin.... If he's doing he's job, he'll just say, "good work, citizen. WE need more of your type around here. While you're at it, let me help you out by running over a couple on my way outta here."

:)

Hey, officer, I was just exterminating these vermin.

It really was an issue, 2 years ago a neighbor caught 18 cats in one winter using a trap! That next summer I got involved after some kittens were born under my deck. I got a little nervous when they would growl at my 1 & 3 year old playing outside when they approached (of course little kids are attracted to animals). I eventually caught them in a trap I borrowed and gave them to the animal short (and 3 adults).

But the sword would have been more fun! :D

Cold Steel Bushman Destruction test video (links at bottom)

I’ve had a Bushman lying around my shop for a year, using it for
Various tasks. I decided to see how tough it really is. I think you will be shocked ? I was.

Fist I placed the tip in the vive and did a bend test. I was easily able to get the blade to bend about 20 –25 degrees. I did this 10 times. The knife didn’t break and no tip failure.

I proceeded to hack into a 2x4, cutting through it. Then, I hammered the back of the blade into the wood. No blade failure at this point.

I moved onto the landscaping brick hacking away. The sparks begin to fly.
I hacked for about 10 minutes in to this brick cutting a V notch. The edge never chipped Just dented. After this I was getting tired and the knife keep going.

I begin to hammer the back of the blade into the brick chipping away sections and splitting the brick. No blade failure, just denting very little actually considering the time evolved. I then hammered the tip in to the brick and the tip bent.

I moved on to an old metal chair. I hammered the tip strait. Then thrust it in to the chair denting the seat. The tip bent. I hammered the tip strait and continued. I moved my attention on to the chair hinge trying to cut through it. Finally there was a thumb size chip in the blade.

I continued pounding in to brick and wood with a 3-pound mallet. Still no major blade failure. I secured the tip back in the vise and bent the blade about 30 plus degrees many times. The blade still refused to break.

Back to more hammering and pounding. I hit the knife every with way top, side, back still the blade would not give.

I finally beat the back of the blade against the vise and the blade broke.

I moved on to the handle placing it in the vise and pounding on it breaking the last 2 inches of blade. No handle failure. I place the handle on a 2x4 and beat it with a 15 pound sledge. It had no affect on it. I was determined to destroy the handle but I was afraid to place it back in the vise and pound it in fear a breaking my vise.

I putt the handle on my 12-ton hydraulic press hoping to crush it. I pumped the hydraulic ram applying extreme force my best guess is about 10 tons. The press was under extreme tension. The handle looked crushed from the end however when I released the pressure it sprung back to shape. Pretty impressive considering I use the press to crush iron pipe with ease using only a small fraction of the force applied to the bushman handle.

I decided that I wasn’t going to be able to destroy the handle without tearing
up my shop equipment. I called the test finished.

Overall: The cold Steel Bushman is one tough and I mean tough knife.
It took 54 minutes of brutality to break it. Unreal; considering it only cost me $16.95 new. Check out the tip it is still intact. Awesome!

Note I didn’t perform any cutting test (paper, card board, ect.) as I was testing. I can sill cut cardboard sawing thru it, using the broken tip end section. It is not on video; so don’t take my word for it.

On the Becker Bk9 and K-bar USMC I will performs cutting test throughout the videos.

The video is in 5 10-minute parts. Part 6 is about 4 minutes.

Hope you enjoy the video? This one was tough !
