I just found out that they have released the Kobun in Carbon V, a steel that I appreciate. The new model has that baked on epoxy powder finish.

Anyone out there who has tried one out yet?

No, but I have some experience with a Carbon V Trailmaster. It is an excellent steel, although I think infi and properly forged 52100 are better. It's main drawback is its tendency to rust. Pit, actually. Right before your eyes. A coating is an excellent idea, long overdue. It would be nice if someone with experience with this coating would pipe up.

I haven't tried the Kobun, but I have an SRK and a Recon Tanto which are both carbon V and have the coating.***Nice knives and are a lot of cutability for a reasonable price.
