Any opinions on this one? From the specs, it looks like a real winner for CS.

I have an original and a CASE that are pretty nice imho. This one from CS looks decent if just for the full flat grind. keepem sharp

It looks alright defintitly not the worst looking knife cold steel has made but it looks very simplistic and practical IMO.

I think the overall concept is good but it's just missing...something...to make it worth the "inspiration" CS took from the design.

I like the look, I like the specs -- I'm pretty sure it's not worth MSRP, and would have to handle one before deciding it's worth the street price.

according to the CS website it's a wide, full length hidden tang.

yup - CS catches a lot of grief for their advertising style, but a lot of their stuff is pretty decent.
mill off the top guard and this would probably be a good field/bush knife.

I like it, and the sheath can be reversed for us southpaws!

Saw one place taking pre-orders in the $53.00 neighborhood.

I think it looks pretty good. The blade looks very similiar to my Recon Scout, but of course the Leatherneck is even more affordable. One small quibble I might have with it, is the big "Cold Steel" etched into the handle. Sog, another company whose products I generally like , is pretty self indulgent in this regard as well.

I love the original Kabar, but with the blade being a flatgrind, the Cold Steel will probably be a better cutting blade. It just looks more usable, really. I like it well enough.

I've been waiting for this one to come on line for a while now. Looks like a great utilitarian design. I always wanted a Kabar with a flat grind.

If it had a stacked leather handle and was made in the US it'd pretty much be the perfect camp knife IMO.

As much as I like this design, why wouldn't one just purchase the recon scout?

I have the Recon Scout - it's over built in my opinion. 5/16ths is overkill and makes it unnecessarily heavy. It's also more expensive, probably twice the price!
