I just used my cold steel Khukuri Machete in my back yard. For a $16 machete
this thing performs pretty well cut thrugh a small palm tree no problem.

Machetes are sorta strange cutting implements. Price doesn't seem to be as indicative of performance as with regular knives.

So, did the edge hold up well?

The edge held up really well. I dont know what an yucca is but iam assuming its a small palm type so its was probably a yucca tree.I have a bigger one in my back yard thats about 13 feet tall.

Yeah, getting a good grip is key, too, and the Cold Steel machetes are a good deal. The only thing I hate is that sticker they attach. Whose idea was that? A cheap carbide sharpener quickly restores an edge. Not something you'd want to use on a good knife, though. I put my machete down bade up and use the carbide sharpener to get the blade I'm looking for.

The Kukri and the Latin Machete are both killer products. They can be had for about $15 to your door on eBay.

I have both their bolo and small Latin machete and I highly recommend both.

Especially the Latin machete has a very comfortable, secure handle. However, you'll have to sharpen them out of the box. Since the rather soft 1055 carbon steel (tough as nails, by the way) is a breeze to sharpen, this isn't much of a drawback though.
The baked on finish effectively prevents rust.

What more can you ask for in such cheap blades?
