cold steel machetes

I\'ve been looking at the Condor\'s....gonna be my next machete purchase !

I have had a Condor 12\" Inca knife for about 2 years now (maybe 3). It is an excellent tool. I also recently picked up the El Salvador machete in carbon steel and it is AMAZING.

I had a kukri machete but ended up giving it away. It was pretty good once you tweaked it, depending on your preference. The latin machetes suck imho, but the 12" barong is hard to beat. The handles can grab skin after using them for a few hours, and you may want to tape or sand yours a bit.

I have a CS Bolo that is about 6-7 years old. I reshaped the handle, which I thought was far too large to be useful, to a shape something along the lines of a Becker knife handle. I put a convex edge on it with a slack belt sander and 220 grit paper. It cuts well, and holds a pretty good edge. Definitely no complaints, but limbing on green wood, the Condor Bush Tool is better even though it is shorter.

After reading some positive things about the CS Kukri machete, I bought one this spring. During the first trial, limbing box elder trees, I not only twisted the blade, but part of the hard plastic handle broke off from the flex. Mind you, this was a branch less than 2" in diameter, it was standing dead wood, so it was dry, but box elder is a pretty soft wood. I actually plan on making a bushcraft style blade out of the portion of the blade that isn't bent.

i have the small khuk machete and i recently convexed the edge and sanded the coating off and put a goofy patina on it for fun. gonna get its first use this weekend. i might try to get a pic up later
