Cold Steel machetes

Victoria is pretty tight on anything that could remotely be considered a weapon.i live in western australia and there are aussie websites that sell machetes so im under the impression they are legal

Agreed. I own one and it is a great tool! Mine is stripped and i put a very light patina on it... here is a pic

I like the Sax pattern. Latin or bolo suit well also.

They are thick machetes and the handles are solid.
 
I have a CS Latin and Kukri.The Kukri is an ok tool but the Latin is junk.

Trams are less expensive and much better IMHO.I don't much care for the wood handles but the plastic should be fine though I have no experience with it.

My next machette purtchase will be Imacasa with plastic handle.
 
You can find a 15 inch Condor Bolo almost anywhere for under 15 dollars. I find this machete to be superior in all aspects (steel quality, finish quality, factory edge, general design, ergonomics) to Ontario, Cold Steel and other popular machete companies out there. For the few dollars in blade difference it is definately worth it. The edge comes polished, shaving sharp, with a nice full convex grind. Other than custom machetes this specimen that I recieved has been better than them all in general quality. I'd urge you to take a look at a few of their models, such as the El Salvador, before you make your final decision.
