Cold Steel Marauder Bowie

I have a Cudeman Bowie knife on the way. It’s within your price point and reportedly very hefty and sharp. These Spanish knives get great reviews and this bowie looks particularly good. Whether it will make a good chopper remains to be seen. If you are not stuck on a bowie style knife and want a great chopper, I’d be looking at the Skrama 200 or 240
Thanks for showing me this. I've been looking at Joker Spanish knives, which are made from similar materials. These Cudemon's seem like they're even more reasonably priced. When you get a chance, update us on how it works, if you intend to use it. I'm interested in how tough that MoVa steel is. I've heard good things.

I have a number of Joker knives and they are outstanding. Supposedly, Cudeman is one step up from Joker. We’ll see.

Another good chopper might be Joker’s new Nomad 6.5.

It's a Zombie Thread, guys.

OP has certainly made up his mind, since he asked about this 5 years ago. ;-)

We could always use more information on new and interesting choppas for which I have an unlimited and insatiable appetite for and almost no use for in my boring suburban life 😆

You might want to have a look at leukus. Numerous Scandinavian makers offer a variety of choices, Roselli for one.

Do you happen to know the difference between 4116 Krupp stainless, and the MoVa 1.4116 steel Joker uses?

I wish someone would make a large, full tang fixed blade, out of AUS-10A. So far, I have yet to find one. It's strange, because I wouldn't imagine it's the most expensive steel.

Joker usually uses the Bohler N695 which is similar to 440c. Not sure about MoVa that Cudeman uses for their bowie but I’ve read that it’s very tough stuff.

Regarding AUS10a in a fixed blade, I agree, I think it’s great steel . I have some big folders in AUS10a from Cold Steel that are extremely tough. I’m surprised that they don’t make a fixed blade from the stuff.

I do know that the Survival Lily APO1S knife uses AUS8a which has gotten high marks for toughness, kind of a Cold Steel SRK design.

The Roselli Big Leuku looks good but no lanyard hole? I like lanyards when chopping but maybe the handle shape is designed to avoid it from flying out of your hands? 🤷‍♂️. You have to assume those Finns know what they are doing

Roselli knives have stick tangs so there's plenty of room to drill a lanyard hole, and the curly birch is tough stuff. I drilled my Roselli Eräpuukko (hunting knife) for a fob to make it easier to withdraw from the sheath.
