I would go with the Carbon V unless you are working in a watery environ. I think there is a place called Mid South shooters supply. They are REALLY cheap.
I picked up two carbon V Master Hunter seconds last year for less than $30.Cold Steel occationally mails out special discount prices on close outs and overstocks.
For edge holding, toughness and sharpening Carbon V is best. Aus 8 is also good with it's main advantage being that it's stainless.
Seconds are a very good deal but they are only avalible in carbon V and come with a cheap cordura sheath not concealex.
