Cold Steel - New for 2016

Street price on the Colossus looks to be around $150. Not really that bad, all things considered.

Wow, 50% off MSRP? Usually street price is less than MSRP but not that much less. Not terrible I guess, though still more than I'm willing to pay for it. $83 for the Broken Skull is more along my lines. Plus the machetes which are always cheap, and that $35 Recon Hawk(I'm pretty surprised it's that low TBH!)...

I'm curious about this as well. On knifecenter.com the product description says that these two knives are made in Japan

I saw that too which is why I asked Cold Steel. I'm pretty certain that's just a leftover from the former ad and is wrong though.

I just spoke to Cold Steel customer service and was told that the 3V SRK and Recon Tanto are made in Taiwan. So now we know.

Yeah it's usually much lower than the MSRP. For example code 4, MSRP is $135 but you can get it for $76 right after the release. knifecenter listed all the prices already and they are usually slightly higher than other places like amazon

Yeah, that's what I was saying. I said street price is usually less than retail. It is not, however, usually 50% off retail. Like your example Code 4 MSRP $135, right after release it was around $80(it's gone down a little more since then). Much less than retail, but not 50% off retail either.

From the current list of items, Broken Skull, MSRP $140, Knifecenter pre-order $84. Significantly less, but still not half off either. No complaints from me though, the more they wanna drop the price the happier I am!

Yeah price will settle. I actually did some calculations last year for the 2015 new folders, since i bought most of them, and the price usually settles around ~55% of the MSRP.

I think the new all-steel axes are interesting. Estwings are pretty good but the neck can bend fairly easily. So maybe these are better.

I don't think that they have posted all of the new 2016 products yet.

There were a few things on the Moteng distributors website that are missing:

The Frenzy, which has three handle color choices, which is a folder based on the sword-breaker. Plus the above-mentioned new version of the Pro-Lite, which looks to be a budget line.

The Immortal is a folder based on the Gladius in two handle color choices and the Golden Eye fixed blade in Tanto- and Spear-Point options.

Yes, there have been several mistakes on the Moteng website so far.

I still think there will be a few more new products added for 2016.

But we will have to wait and see for sure.

Several new items are in stock and shipping now from Special Projects

The Polish mace reminds me of driving taxi to get through school years back. I took an oak dowel, cut it down and screwed/glued an iron pipe fitting to it. I pulled it a couple of times at 3am, but thank God I never had to use it. Deal with humans long enough in scruffy environments and the ''coombiya, let's hold hands and sing Puff the Magic Dragon'' mentality evaporates in a cold splash of reality.
