Wanting to get an axe to carry along on hikes & I just wondered how good a chopper the Norse Hawk is. Ran search a few times, but bothing real definite. Did see a Youtube video where it did pretty decent next to a GD axe.

IMO it cuts better than any other 'hawk Cold Steel offers.

I modded one and liked it so much I bought another one.

It does chop well and I like mine, but technique is important. It has a relatively large distance from the edge to the handle, so if you strike with the blade slightly canted it has a greater tendency to twist in your hand on impact. Can be hard on your wrist at times. It also doesn't have a poll, which would help it track straighter on the swing. Not a deal breaker, but you might find you need to be a little more conscious of what you're doing, at least until you get used to it.

IMO, the Norse 'hawk chops ok, but it really is about the package rather than how well it chops. Put a longer handle on it, sharpen it up, dress it up... and you have a nice little package that works for pushing branches out from in front of you, hooking trees to drag to your campsite, throws well, and looks good to boot.

If you want it only for chopping, there are better tools. If you want it for the package, it does pretty well.
