Cold Steel Outdoorsman

So the holes are there only to alleviate the weight?

I'm glad it's still in production and I'm glad the owner is a nice man. The blade is made in Italy now.

I don't dive and I don't collect knives, but I'd like to buy this "Ocean Edge" someday.
I believe weight, grip, and you can attach a leash on it. It will rust too, you have to take care of it, but you can get a good edge and retention for stainless.

Also, any eventual rusty spot will be totally exposed, which allows the user to treat the steel immediately. It's easy to fall in love with this knife!

You used a CS Tanto as a "Dive knife"?? I can only say...Wow!!!
When I was diving it was... 35 years ago!!! The Cold Steel Tanto was no big deal... but in Mexico and Florida it was not a 'weapon' but a dive knife! I still have that knife. The modification done was I ground off the 'skull crusher' pompel to be more like a Outdoorsman. Yea that did take collectors value off but that was 35 years ago and I was, and still am, not a knife collector.

As a former Diver and Cold Steel fan who owned 4 or 5 CS tantos over the years, would love to see your Dive Tanto. Could you post a pic?
Thanks!

Thanks for the photos. While I see some stains as I expected, overall the condition looks much better than I expected. Very cool.
I'm in the process of cleaning it up... soaked it in dish water (made my own... didn't use my wife's!) Got some stainless steel wool '000', and stainless polish.

Once I clean it up (there are still many very very small pits in it) and I use some glycerin to liven up the rubber handle, I will then use Braso on the brass and super sharpen it up. Heck... I might take it deer hunting with me in November!

Great. Look forward to seeing the result!
