Cold Steel Plastic Knives

I think people are confusing "Metal detectors" with "X-ray machines", the two are completely different. I doubt metal detectors would beep on a plastic knife being brought through (Though I do NOT recommend it, especially since some people are randomly patted down) but there's a very good chance the knife outline would show up on an X-ray view.

I don't think these would do well as trainers; too rigid and pointy. Use rubber knives! CS is not noted for their political correctness but THEY say these are not trainers. Be safe, folks! A pointy piece of rigid plastic thrust with force--OMG is that what I ate yesterday!? Don't let it happen to you.

I have the tanto one (with a metal ring in the top) ... like people have been saying, no edge on the thing. The point is quite sharp though, and seems pretty strong. Definitely wouldn't want to get poked with it...

dude, 4 post only and I'm already a little concerned for you.
havin' said that, the niteshade series does have it's merits.
but it depends a fair bit on the inherent tip strength of some very probable models.
as stated by many, niteshade's fiber reinforced nylon is not about edge holding qualities; it's mainly anchored on the utility of a design's point strength.
understand too, that it is largely limited by the kind of material stress or kinds of impact it can withstand.
which means to say - any thing harder than the FRN itself would bring instant ruin.
but then again, these are techically meant to be cheap 'n disposable plastic shanks.
so, personally wouldn't advise it's purchase to be for anything more than for some homebound academic study!
quite amazingly, CS has replicate some of it's own products in FRN as tactical letter openers for the study desk afterall.
