I just ordered the Cold Steel Recon 1 2010 version a few days ago and I can't wait to get it. I love everything about the knife from the pictures and reviews I've seen, but I'd love to hear some feedback from someone who has actually carried and used this knife? If you carry use one of the old recon 1's I would appreciate a response as well because I imagine it's very similar. Thank you. I don't have much experience with AUS 8 either. How does it preform?

check out jankerson1 's vids on youtube. He thumps on it well and truly. Definitely a bargain for a good emergency use knife. Its next on my list.

All the Recon 1's are very good, new and old design. The locks on them are second to none, the AUS8 is easy to resharpen and while not in the class of 154cm or s30v for retention, it's a good steel with a great heat treat, the older models give away ergos to the newer ones imo, the newer Tri Ad lock models sound like little bank doors when they open.

i like the handle shape better on the "axis" lock version, but the triad lock is much better.

its a great knife, i think you will be very pleased.

the only thing i think needs to be done is to sand the scales a bit. they are very aggressive and will tear up your pockets.

Was the Recon 1 with triad lock ever made with liners like the AL? or has it been liner less from the get go?

It was designed linerless, it actually is thinner and better profiled to be less cumbersome in the pocket. I carry mine without the clip and in the pocket with the lanyard hanging out.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear.

I bought a new AL from KW recently and ended up with the lined version(which I did not want:(), I kind of expected them to be out of circulation by now.

The American Lawman is the only one of the Demko's designed, I don't own right now, great knife.

I'm sure you could shoot Roger an Email and he'd take care of it.. unless of course.. you accidentally ordered the older model.. since both are on the site and you have to click the 2010 model...

Yeah, Roger was fine for me to send it back but being in Australia it was going to be too expensive so I sold it on fleabay. He also said they had none of the liner less models in stock so anyone wanting the lined AL, KW still has them(a check with them is still a good idea).

I now have a liner less AL on it's way from another source but really like the looks of the Recon 1...:D

i like the lined version better.

The 2010 Recon1 is a helluva knife. Great ergos, good steel, and the best lock on any folder I've handled yet.
