Cold steel recon 1 ?

What's up knife people. Do you guys think of the cold steel recon1. I was thinking about getting the recon 1 clip point to use and abuse. I'm really drawn to the style and hardware of the knife. I really like the g10 mad blade shape. I would use the knife for work and to fool around with. However I don't like the fact that it has a hollow grind. I would much rather a flat grind. Also I have small hands and was wondering if this may be a problem with the knife for me. I have a spyderco tenacious that I really beat on, I love the knife but I don't care much for liner locks because I'm a lefty. What do you guys think should I get the knife or should I go with something else.

Thanks a lot for your input. :)

If size is a concern, the Cold Steel Code 4 is basically a medium Recon 1 with aluminum handles.
I really liked my Recon 1 Spear point

Size isn't really a concern I actually like big work knives but thats actually a nice knife. I think it would make a good edc.

I agree with zl1 Recon1 Spear point is really nice. It can take a beating. I hated the Code 4 the aluminum was to slick for me.

Recon1 blows the Spyderco Tenacious out of the water! . In my opinion.

I have 2 of them, tanto and spear. They've never let me down. They're fantastic beater knives and I'd put the Tri-Ad lock up against any other lock in the world. Cold Steel knives are pretty much the best bang for buck available. That said the knives do lack any kind fondle factor, "cold" steel is pretty spot on.

On the flip side though, Cold Steel is the only brand of knives that still holds a perfect record in fit and finish in my collection. All 6 of their blades were always centered, had zero play, came with nice even edges and were overall just 100% all of the time.

Nice this sounds like I'll definitely get one but I'm just concerned in the comfort factor now due to my medium to small hands lol. Let me know what you guys think.

I have somewhat small hands and I have the recon one clip point and it feels perfect in my hands, I beat the hell out of it and I have to say you won't be disappointed!

i loved my Recon 1, gave it to a friend who needed a good knife. that poor thing can take a beating and some. I do like that they have multiple sizes for the recon now

I owned a Recon 1 for about 10 minutes. The G10 scales are so aggressive that it tore my jeans pocket trying to deploy it from my pocket. I sent it back to Amazon. The knife had a very good fit and finish for a Chinese made knife. Perhaps one of the best I have ever handled. But if I cannot get it out of my pocket without tearing my pants, the value factor goes away. Also, quick and unnoticed deployment of the knife is nearly impossible as is. There are plenty of cheap and easy modification ideas on YouTube to modify the scale under the clip which eliminates this problem, but I just was not that committed to make the knife work. But, if I had a very limited budget, I would have found a way to make this knife work for me. It is a very capable folder.

Taiwan. The code models slide out of the pocket if you dont know what sandpaper is. The Ak has a wave if you need it .

I love my Recon 1 XL...

If handle material doesn't matter I would go with a large Voyager it's the same size, it comes in a clip point, it's full flat grind, and it has that beautiful stonewashed blade.

I've had several different sizes of the Recon and Voyager. I like both (favorite is the XL Voyager!), but I don't carry any of the Recons. That first big choil is too tight for me and the finger ridges are too pronounced. I gave the large Voyager (just a bit small in the hand for me) and one mini Recon away, stuck the other two mini's and one large Recon in the knife box, and only use the XL Voyager. The XL Recon is interesting but has the same issues; also, I could buy two XL Voyagers for the same price. :-)

Recon 1 is a very well made knife no matter the cost. CS's AUS8A is done nicely and the G10 is aggressive, but can be easily sanded down (wear a particle/dust filter mask). It fits my "smallish" hands quite well.

I don't care, you are rambling still. And I said just about nothing that you are talking about. Or about why you chose not to keep it, as I too could not stand the clip and pocket tearing attributes. I see your point and Im dealing with it better than you possibly can. I hope life does not stress you out as much. Im sure we will not run into each other again anyway.
Good Day.

TO THE OP, I might recommend a Tuf-lite due to your location. Lots of power in a small package. What are the knife laws out there. Not that I would abide by them, as I carry what I need.

I was wrong, but with respect to the knife and my point, it makes no difference. The way I look at the world, Taiwan is China. Why can't you see my point? I did not say this was a bad knife nor did I say Cold Steel knives were bad. There was one thing I did not like about it, and for me it was a deal breaker. That is all I said, and this is what I meant. Deal with it.

Just to clarify the details:

The Recon 1 XL (5.5-inch) blade has a full-flat grind.

The Recon 1 L (4-inch) blade is hollow-ground.

Some advise, if you're planning on breaking the laws of your local, best to not advertise that all over the www

I have Recon 1 the regular size . It is good knife but the AUS 8 is s%#&t if they did use at last 440c It would be great knife ! I will never buy anything less than AUS 10 or 440c in stainless . I love the knife but if intended for use u will have to sharpen it every 1-3 days of light use.

If you're worried about it being too big for your hands, take a look at the Mini Recon 1.
