Thanks guys, it turned out much nicer than I had hoped for. I got the idea of stripping it off from other members several months ago.
The way I removed the sharp corner created by the two edges was really quite simple I used a guided sharpener. Take your pick but I use the DMT Magna-guide system.
If you clamp it midway along the spine and work the hones (in the air - what I did first) along the edge, you notice that the pendulum arc of the rod & affixed hone is going to swing right across that sharp corner and eliminate it.
That's what I proceeded to do and the AUS8 blade was quite responsive to the diamond hones. It came out of there pretty easily. I spent a little more time touching up that tanto corner than the rest of the edge but it was very, very easy to do. I also took off the dia-folds and did the final sharpening free hand, constantly checking the "look" and for burrs etc. It took a near mirror edge coming of the xx-fine dia-fold.
The knife is going up for sale since I don't use it. It was a project and I had fun with it. I have about 1/2 dozen new folders collecting dust so it's going.
I'm only keeping my Hinderers, Sebenzas, a Benchmade 710 & Spyderco Military. So when I get around to running the sale you can buy it already finihsed and never used or carried for the DLC coated price!
