I'm going to sportsman's tommorow, so It would be cool of I got this before 1700, thanks:o.

I know I do this alot, but the look of the roach belly looks so appealing to me, so I was woundering how it works for you guys. It uses what I hear, is a crappy steel, is this true? Will it sharpen easy? Is it good for skinning?

Don't own any CS knives in this steel, so I can't help you there, but here's a vid reviewing this knife. Also do a search here for 4116, and it should give you a bit of info on the steel.

I have one and its worth the 10 bucks i payed for it. But i'd say that a mora is a better deal. And yes it is crappy steel, but that just means you have to sharpen it more often.

Exactly what I was going to say, it's not a bad knife for $10 (actually, I have the Finn Bear, but they're close enough), but that $10 would be much better spent on a Mora.

I work at the Sportsman's in Round Rock and we have them in stock and I think that they are good little knives and for the money that are a good little sheath knife.

I use my Roach belly to prepare food. It excels in the kitchen, because the jobs aren't too rigorous, and making use of that sweep allows for good chopping.

I have all of the CS 4116 Krupp knives and they are all well worth the money. The Mora steel is better but the CS is a good serviceable knife. Don't let the CS politics keep you from using a good value product.

You can take Jim's opinion on this subject to the bank.

I agree. I have one as well. I use it for food prep when we are camping. It works well and is worth the $8.00 I paid for it.

Yeah, that's that one I go to, the guy said they were like $14.99 there.

When you guys mean food prep, do you mean skinning as well, or just choppin onions?

food prep usually means kitchen duty....like you said..chopping onions etc...

I stopped buying CS when they stopped using Carbon V and when they stopped making their products in the US. I haven’t bought anything made by them in years. I did however handle a Roach Belly at SMKW, seemed poorly made to me, but it is a 10 dollar knife, then again, I have seen NOSS take a 10 dollar Cheaper than dirt Chinese RUK and cut through steel, so just because something is cheap, doesn’t necessarily mean it is weak. Good luck….

Did you get it? What do you think about it?

As for CS. I have owned quite a few of their knives. Right now I have a Carbon V SRK, Carbon V Recon Tanto, VG1 San Mai III Outdoorsman, and a Black Sable. In my opinion these particular knives, and the others I have owned are very good knives. I haven't owned any of the 4116 or SK5 knives though. The CS bashing is pretty much mandatory in these threads. If you don't play into company politics, it's best to ignore them.

probably cause they (CS) haven't physically made anything in years. ;)

Save yer duckets , and buy something better.

Oops, My bad, Sold/ Distributed by them, or do they even do that anymore, HEHE

Follow this mans advice, "save yer duckets and buy something better", he knows what he's talking about...

John T. By the way, when did they end the Carbon V line ?

When Camillus went out of business about a year ago. Camillus was the actual maufacturer of "Carbon V" knives which may have been the same steel as Case CV :) and was definitely the same as Camillus also used making the Becker line.
