Jill Jackson is a master badassery.
Alright here are some musings on the Spartan after three weeks as EDC....
AUS-8a is a lousy steel for cutting anything but meat, produce and other chewables, my edge has been rolled doing some things that may or may not be par for your course but as a worker needing a do it all knife this is troublesome. Case in point sliding out the rubber retention band holding my screens to windows (they needing replacing) granted there was minor metal on metal contact (if you call the cheap pot metal used on residential screens metal). Either way the edge rolled, had to be resharpened, so took the time to convex it with a mouse pad and sandpaper. Took a papercutting edge fine, its harder to get it sharp, either way the AUS isn't (IMO) a stay sharp and forget it metal ala 1095, BG42 or VG10. Because of the angle of the grinds on this blade its not a great cardboard cutter either, neither was my GB Nightmare Grind either though, so a thick and box cutting duties is bad medicine.
Where the SPartan has shined, admirably is in hand intimidation (a CHiP buddy said "God damn, I would rather have you pull a gun") the lock is a brick out house tough, the grip is amazing for retention for Self Defense applications ( having access to butchery scraps, I have had no slips with greasy, blood stained or protein rich environments) slicing meat is easy. As a folding prybar with style this knife does everything the GB, AR, or Extrema Ratios I have had and give me an extra car payment to boot.
So in summation, I like this knife, it's design is only limited by the AUS 8. If Demko reads this and hopefully he does, this knife is begging for a better blade steel (BG42, Laminated VG10 or D2). This knife replaced my Manix in the EDC rotation, its tougher, in my opinion, the lateral strength of the blade and grinds don't lead to chipping like on the Manix which was S30v. The Manix had better cutting ability due to those high flat grinds but I would be hesitant to use it in some SHTF scenarios, ie prying a wooden door of the frames (Spartan did this over the weekend).
*Just my .02, experience and all opinion, there are no pics because I don't roll like that in real-life, if you want to argue save it for your domestic life partners.*
