I have found the South African made machetes to have the rolling
problem, as I haven't really noticed it on my Chinese made ones(Barong, Bowie).
The grinder they use on the "edge" of the South African made ones seems to soften the edge quite a bit and they will have this issue until you use them for awhile and resharpen the edge a few times. I like the Cold Steel machetes though, because unlike a 1095 Ontario, you can pound the heck out of them and not worry about the edge as it's easy to fix with a file. A 1095 Ontario machete will be alot more difficult to fix as they have a tendency to chip because of the hardness of the blade. I have heard of them snapping also.
