Cold Steel Spike Hawk

I also forgot to point out a subtle design change. Notice the small curve on the head (near the middle) in all of the advertisement photos?

Well, it's not on the production version...

If it matters to anybody...

Thanks for the pics.

The CS pic have had a bunch of photoshop...hell they even have the same handle on both 'hawks.

The ulitmate questions are...are they decent, as in useable?
And ...are they worth the money?

To make the Spike Hawk more tacti-cool, I ground and sharpened the underside of the cutting edge. This gives it a nice can opener effect.

The sides are a tad uneven, but I'm not finished with it yet...

The underside, as viewed from the handle. My finger indicates where the point is made where the underside starts and the primary edge begins...

Very nice mods! Mine arrived today and I plan to make this my first attempt at hawk modding, I hope I can do it!

Got my CS pipe hawk in today to go along with my CS spike. Nice wood on the pipe but it's pretty dull. These to will be my first home mod'ding hawks. Guess JNeiporte has inspired me to try it.

I used a bastard file, then a diamond stone, then a ceramic stick. You could use a belt sander if you wanted to make it quick while still not ruining the temper, but I think doing it by hand gives me more control over the angle.

Out of interest, what stone/stick?
I'm trying to find the right tools to get to do this mod to my own CS hawk I'm getting for Christmas.
Thanks

The file is just a 6" bastard file from Harbor Freight. It comes in a six-pack with other varieties and had a yellow plastic handle. The one I used is triangle-shaped. Six-pack runs around $8.00
The stone is a Smith's diamond rod, about 8" long, but half goes into the handle and tightens. One half is uniform; the other tapers. Costs about $11.00
The stick was a standard 8" ceramic stick. Crock stick. About $1.00 each.
