As mentioned above I just sent the exchange route and got the new one today (easy peasy though Midway). Likely was an easy fix but didn't want to end up making a bigger problem, had it loosened over time I'd likely just have dealt with it myself first.
Anyways the replacement one is solid and good to go.

Good to hear this as it was going to be my next question as to durability of the thumb plate fastening...Midway is usually good , so immediate problem should be solved soon .![]()
I've got a ton of these type wave openers and they've all been solid from the start and stayed tight even with hard use .
I have read of damage due to baton , but I don't do this .
