cold steel ti lite zytel

Well I'll give 'er a shot. I love the wave feature on this knife and in my opinion it's the only way to open it. The thumb stud is recessed a tad to far to really get a good purchase on it. Also I think that the "quilions" are backwards in the way they face. This may be to avoid legal issue with Emerson though... All in all, it's a good knife. Solid lock up, probably one of the strongest liner lockers in its class ($30~$50.) I would NEVER buy one of the Ti versions of it as for $130 you are better served with other's offerings, but the zytel version is pretty cool. I used it as a backup in my back pocket. My only other problem is the clip is not reversible and sits a little high for a back pocket(read discrete) carry. So I just placed it in my pocket clipless. I could get the thing out and open pretty fast. It started tearing up my wallet, which it rode next to, so I replaced it with a BM Pika which is cheaper, thinner, and has a deeeeeeeeep and reversible pocket clip and is also extremely light. So do I like the Zytel Ti Lite or not? I like it allot I would say, even though I have stopped caring this as a primary EDC backup, I will not sell it. It has a cool factor all it's own. One of the only Cold Steel knives I have owned that I was not disappointed in. Also one of the few that I still own. Hope this helps. I think I got mine for around $40 too if that helps.

Thanks, I appreciate your comments. Ive heard much about the ti lites, the original titanium ones that is. Ive heard that they are not all they're "cracked up to be" (so to speak). I have to admit as much as I like the looks of the more expensive ones, the handles, I have a hard time thinking of giving a 100.00 for a knife in aus-8. As knife maker I know it is costly to laser cut titanium, the material is not cheap either, but having a nice knife like that with aus-8 I think is a bit dissappointing. The only thing keeping me at this point of getting the zytel is the 440a blade, not "fond" of the steel. I know with a proper heat treat that it can be somewhat acceptable, but Im wondering how much on these? That is how do these 440a blades hold up. 440a itself is not much to bragg (at all) about, but allot has to do with the proper heat treat. Im sure these come out of taiwan much like allot of knives (cheaper) production these days, but I wonder how these are.

Don't worry about the 440 steel, this is not an everyday usage knife. Mine came razor sharp and the blade is a snap to resharpen. It looks cool and cuts like hell and would provide plenty of "think twice" if used in a self protection situation. Sometimes I wear it on Saturday nite.

I got a Ti-Lite Zytel a couple of weeks ago. I'm not a big fan of the Stilleto style blades, but this one won me over to the design. I like the "wave" feature, but the edges of my pockets don't. I also like the sound the lock makes when it engages, sounds very solid. I don't use my knives much but this one is one helluva letter opener.

A Ti-Lite with a 6" blade is coming out on March 13th or 18th, I'm planning on picking one up at the time. It's only availible in Zytel, a Titanium version that big would be outrageously expensive.
