Hi It is AUS 8A The Cold Steel company says the knife is assembled in Taiwan, but someone told me that the blade itself is still Japanese. I can't tell if it is Japanese steel or not, but just looking at it I can't tell the difference between the AUS 8 vs AUS 8 A
