cold steel torture test videos - talwar xl and voyager tanto xl

That Talwar is a tough one, that is one knife I haven't acquired yet and it looks awesome. Thanks for sharing, folks.

The OP has over 1,400 posts. I do agree there was one lately where there were only 2 posts.

Let's not go overboard and consider every person who posts about Cold Steel a shill.

I am new to forum and have already been accused of making shill posts just because I prefer Cold Steel's Tri-Ad.

Could you please explain what is a shill?

Shill is basically someone compensated by a company to promote its products , but implies dishonesty / misrepresentation in doing so .

I was also accused of this for Cold Steel and others . Long time ago , probably the same members .

Just ignore that BS troll noise . It usually just means they disagree with you but prefer to attack below the belt rather than fairly discuss the issue .

Neat video, but not really helpful in terms of showing the overall merits of a particular design.

You can break anything if you try hard enough.
There is a guy on “utubes” that destroyed a brand new Dodge T-Rex pickup truck…then burned it at the end. That had to be one of the most idiotic and wasteful thing I ever saw….and I’m not even a auto buff. Yeah, I appreciate the torture test stuff to an extent, but after a while it’s just dumb and a waste of a perfectly good product.

Destruct testing can be useful , if done systematically and scientifically .

These were not either .

Mostly for the shock / entertainment / drama value ,IMO .

It does show these knives can take substantial abuse before breaking .

But, not very meaningful unless compared to other competing /similar type knives, in a controlled / repeatable fashion .

Entertaining but bear no real resemblance to real world use by most people. I have had gas stations knives do everything and more that I asked of them when no better alternative was available. Conversely I have had relatively expensive knives fail to impress me. But hell y'all keep making them, still better than most of the crap on Boobtube.

These reviewers need to work on their appearance to exude the proper credibility...a gas mask is a good start, but why stop there? How about full scuba apparatus along with medieval plate armor and a Jason-style hockey mask?

I've been really impressed with how AUS-10A has been performing in those videos. The Voyager Tanto, Spartan and 4Max Scout in AUS-10 have done amazingly well, whereas S35VN tends to chip easier. For a rugged use knife, AUS-10A seems to be a great choice. Considering AUS-10 is just AUS-8 with more carbon, I guess it's not surprising. AUS-8 is one of the toughest knife steels out there, so the AUS-10A appears to be similar in that regard.

" Well met, youtube viewers. Can my new arming sword be batoned through the stone that held Excalibur and still be sharp enough to cleave through 10 peasants? Find out in this week's video!"
