Cold Steel Trailmaster alternative?

Talking about JoeX, the Messerfeiber Black Tufan survived everything he trew at it, except the shotgun slug. Seems a nice chopper.

I see people suggesting the Junglas and Skrama 240. During covid those were scarce so I bought an Ontario SP53 which is a great chopper. Am I missing out by not having the Skrama or Junglas?
The Skrama is just great and fairly cheap. I firmly believe if you’re a person just needing a chopper. It makes perfect sense. If you’re stacked in choppers and don’t have one, get one! It’s a truly great knife!

You might want to check out the KA-BAR Becker BK9. It's made in the USA and usually comes at a more affordable price point. Another option could be the ESEE-6, although it has a slightly shorter blade, it's robust and reliable for tough outdoor tasks. Both options have good reputations and should fit within your budget.

Have been working on brush clearing on my overgrown farm continuously for several years. The best hand tool I have found is the Svord Kiwi Machete. It was once less than $40 but the price has increased slowly over the years. It has an awesome convex edge and excellent steel. Cold Steel makes an excellent Kukri Machete. However it comes so dull it may take a couple of days to sharpen before using it. Condor makes a Barong that is great for cutting only green stuff but could have an edge tear out if you try to chop down dry hard oak limbs. It has a very sharp thin edge. Another tool approach I have found that really works is wearing leather gloves and using a Silky Sugowaza saw. You grab the brush and pull it towards you, and pull the saw across the gathered brush. You have to wear a glove or else you hand will get torn by the brush getting jerked around in your hand.

i nearly pulled the trigger on one of those rough and tumble Trailmasters an hour ago. I just don't have a use for one, but I do like the steel and price over the other offerings. I still have my Carbon V blade in the garage somewhere. I took the handle off years ago, and I keep telling myself I'm going to get a new brass guard and find an interesting piece of antler and make something out of that old thing. Hell, I think I still have the cordura sheath too. It was my first "expensive" knife when I got out of college.

I picked this up on the Exchange a little over a month ago.
Thanks wharncliffe! Having a sheath made by Sharp & Fiery ..

thats the best of the bunch to me. good call on sharp&fiery on a proper sheath for it.
