just recently i cam into possession of the Cold steel triple action tanto point and although most of my friends advised against this saying its not very good i would have to disagree with them completely this is probably one of my favorite knives my only problem is that the clip is placed a bit too low on the handle making it pop out of my pocket a little higher than what i prefer However this does allow for a seriously speedy quickdraw i can open this knife and have it ready even faster than the pocket open on my Ti-Lite the blade metal is VG-1 stainless which i don't see very often but as far as i can tell it holds the edge Really well and can take a serious beating. im using this knife as my current EDC and im enjoying it the handle is made of aircraft aluminum which does start to show noticeable scratches after a few days of use especially around the pivot screws on the handle cover

Now a common misconception is that the triple action is a butterfly knife but it it definitely isn't i'd be more inclined to call it a "protected folder" because the blade is completely enclosed by both handles and wont open in your pocket under any circumstances.

Open the knife is 9 1/8 inches long with a 4 inch blade

closed the blade comes to 5 1/8 inches

blade width is 3mm

and the knife has an overall weight of 3.6 oz

overall

i love this knife:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

id be happy to answer any questions:D

From what i understood they were bad knives... I think i might get one now. Is it hard to get over the learning curve of flicking it open, like the learning curve with the balisongs?

They're actually really, really easy to open and close with a wrist flick. It just kind of... happens; it's hard to explain but very obvious when you experience it. Because of the way the handles joints are connected it just kind of falls open and falls closed. The major criticism of the knife has been that the aluminum handles don't hold up to extended use.

I agree, the Al handles do show some denting. This was caused by opening the knife in the prescribed way. Long term use or "playing with it" like a butterfly knife would probably cause some problems. I would love to see one done in Ti. Cool concept.

My problem with it is that the aluminum seems to be unhardened, and the pivot for the handle wears through something awful. After a while it ends up looking pretty egg-shaped.

ive had mine for a while now and the only damage to the handles ive seen were some circular scratches near the joint but besides that there is no real damage

there is a bit of practice needed to open it but dont be timid in the wrist flick if you are it is possible that the point of the knife will hit the blade guard but this isnt much of a problem youll get a small divot in the aluminum but nothing major and the blade will be fine i recommend the tanto point over the double edge the double edge comes sharper but dulls much faster the tanto seems to have an architectural strength advantage.

I have had and carried my Triple Action for a little over a year. I have had no issues with it what so ever and it is still factory (Razor) sharp. I wouldn't mind picking up a Tanto version in the future...

Yes, I recall someone not all that long ago trashing this knife. As much as I like many CS knives, I really question whether it will hold up. I'm also not sure I'd want a clip on a knife like this, either. If it had a titanium frame it would be super. A smooth Zytel model also would be nice. Unless the aluminum is a high-grade aircraft aluminum that resists scratching, this type of knife will be dinged up.

I had the DE one. Did all of the above. Fell apart in one month.

The one I played with seemed pretty flimsy. I don't like aluminum handles. That's including the reputed "tough" knives, extrema ratio.

I'm glad you like it though ColonelX. Your opinion is the only one that matters with your knives.
