Cold Steel Voyager clippoint PE 4"

I'll have to handle a Voyager in person because the handle's shape doesn't look too comfortable to me. Philwar, might you have any pics of the Voyager next to an American Lawman?
I'll be posting them later today. Almost but not quite entirely identical to Powernoodle's threesome. :D

Here are my thee budget Tri-Ad lock folders:

As you can see, the new Recon 1 has seen some use already. The teflon coating is little more than paint, and it's gonna come off anyway. ;)

What's that little disc around the stud on your American Lawman? Some sort of O-ring thingy?

Good review Phil. If this new Voyager satisfies your criteria as king of the hill even with its blade steel choice, then there is no point in my further waiting to obtain one of these beauties in XL. Once again, thanks for the photos and thoughts.

Someone told me I should come and read your review. All I can say is "Wow" Phil. I would really like to see you back in your old haunts sometime. I always said you were an honest man.

Heh. My beef with AUS8A was always based on pricepoint. For the Voyagers, at their price level, it's a steel (get it, steel?? :D). I also bought a Recon 1 even though it too uses AUS8A. I've already ground the secondary tip off, I'm gonna strip the blade, and when my current hobby project is done I'm gonna have the blade replaced with one made of a steel the great frame deserves.
Anyway. I honestly don't see how anyone could be disappointed with the new Voyager, regardless of size. Cold Steel knocked this one out of the park.

Thank you for the expert opinion, and soooo many great angles for comparison photos. A very complete review that makes my decision soooo easy. I sincerely appreciate the possibly time consuming, and considerately attentive effort to detail.

Based on this review and the great pics, I ordered the same model yesterday and am very much looking forward to receiving it. I thought about going with a tanto or the vaquero blade style, but figured I would keep it basic with the clip point. If it's super sweet, I can still get the others another day, at this price, why not right?

I recently stripped the Recon 1 after grinding the secondary tip off, making it more of a spanto. Here's a few new group shots. I have nothing against black, but these blades just look better blanked. :D

That Recon 1 is now one of the coolest folders I own. Now for a blade made of M390 in a saber/spanto grind...
