Cold Steel

yeah right, why didn't I think of that?

I've already checked coldsteel.com and neverunarmed.com, as well as a couple of internet retailers.
if it was that easy to find pics of the new products I wouldn't be posting here.

The new Cold Steel products I have seen so far is a G10-handled version of the AK-47 folder and it has a black-coated blade too. There is a San Mai version of the Laredo Bowie. Also a new Bowie knife that is way up there in price ($599.00) that I forgot the name of. Plus some new smaller fixed blades. No pictures of these new items yet, except the G10 version of the AK-47 folder that was in the "Blade Trade" magazine for knife dealers that someone scanned and posted on another knife forum.

I wouldn't know that; there are plenty of folks who don't check websites
for one reason or another.

No reason to

Anyway, what new Cold Steel products are you referring to?

Hopefully something good..I've been disappointed with my last half dozen purchases..they've got new configurations and sorts of Bowies, San Mai stuff, boot knives..

Looks like some of the new stuff may be pretty cool like the new spikes and throwers. It just bothers me though they ripped off tru balance big time with the tthrowers. :thumbdn:

i saw a strider rip-off,okapi rip-off[$3 knife made in s africa],grohmann rip-off.they should change the name to cold steal.

on the 6th page of the scanned catalogue,1st knife from the top.looks too similar to a strider to be a coincidence.i usaully avoid the rip-off discussions and flaming cold steel but it's really bugging me that he ripped off the okapi design and then say on the website that it's horribly made and horribly overpriced.it sells for like $3 here [u can get a card of 10 for R130 za,which is like $20].

i don’t get it, how using a common design ripping anyone off? if its a regional design then no one really owns it, god forbid someone bring different kinds of knives to a broader market. if you fallow that logic we wouldn’t have kukri's, or multi tools.....
as far as strider rip offs, i might be wrong but im pretty sure the "fighter" series is just meant to be a more versatile version of their throwers. Sort of a middle ground for those who don’t want to carry a thrower, and don’t want to toss their high end knife either

i can understand interpreting regional, etnic or common designs but ripping off other companies stuff falls under none of those categories.the Okapi rip-off is just that.it seems that it's ok for cold steel to do this in the name of bringing newer designs to the broader market?Lynn Thompson has many great designs, many unique designs but he still has to copy other well know makers/companies' work without permisssion.and insult other manufacturers. to boot

cold steel is f**king trash. what a rip off. not only that, but they continue to insult mick and duane and in the process.

well for starters there are actually some pretty obvious deference’s, the strider bevel is way wider and aligns much better with the tip, the cold steel g.i tanto has a much more prounounced swedge, and no gimping on the back of the blade(which is kinda pointless with handgaurds...) the pommel on the cold steel version is more rounded and would probably make a better impact weapon, since it aligns with your hand..

and lastly the cold steel knife is a thrower

the strider is a fighter
its just stupid to compare them
