Cold Steel's Golden Age

I remember the bad old days when I first joined BF. It seemed to be great sport to demean and kick dirt at CS..........

IMO not much has changed. Try talking about CS in general discussions. This is why i dont participate much on forums anymore and moved to instagram, because people tend to like to express their condescending and snarky attitude on here to compensate for the lack of ability to do so(or any physical/mental/emotional frustration) in their day-to-day life. I think this is probably part of the reasons why CS rep has been participating less on BF(they used to post almost daily here during 2015/2016), unless they are busy with their new proof video which i love(anticipating more snarky remarks about being mall ninja, strong lock is for pussy, learn to use knife properly etc......).

You can't really expect the old hard core CS bashers to suddenly reverse , but I believe I have detected some considerable swaying of the more open minded since the improved steels ( XHP , 3V) and DLC coating were introduced . I think the higher end folders (4 Max ) have gotten some respect also .

Some people like Cold Steel and some don't. Just like some people like good ol' French's Mustard and some don't. Me, I'm a French's Mustard kinda guy, Classic Yellow mustard at that. And I prefer to spread my mustard with a Cold Steel Kitchen Classic Utility Knife. Badda bing!

Ahh, the age-old conundrum of being a Cold Steel fan: You'll never be accepted by the Cool Kids as being a "real knife guy," no matter how many other knives you own. Like hkyew said, that attitude is often why I don't participate in too many threads in General. I don't like wasting my time arguing with people, and that's all that some folks seem to want to do around here. It really bothers me when they drag it into the subforums, though.

I agree with DocJD. I think that many people are looking harder at Cold Steel these days. Frankly, I've never understood why anyone wouldn't. But the 2016-7 upgrades definitely have begun to sway some who used to scoff. Plus, I like to think that a few of us who know a thing or two about knives AND are Cold Steel fans are able to persuade some of the more open-minded to take a second look.

Man with no name, I love the Grey Poupon analogy! It's appropriate for far too many Forumites these days. I'm more a "yellow mustard" knife guy myself, though I genuinely love (and love owning and talking about) ALL kinds of knives! Cold Steel just happens to be one of my favorites, and has been since the company's inception.

I can be a bit stubborn, however, particularly when others tell me what I should or shouldn't like. I will admit that once in a great while, when the Lynn Thompson and/or Cold Steel bashing has been especially obnoxious on Blade Forums, I've gone and bought a new Cold Steel knife just to spite the loudmouths!

I never gave much thought to Cold Steel products until 2-3 years ago. There were very few designs that intrigued me and the blade steel was "meh" for the money. With all the new models, upgraded steel, and great price points, they definitely see more of my knife funds than other brands.
