Cold Steels New 2010 Voyager Series

This is a landmark point in Cold Steel history. Having owned and used my fair share of CS folders, I can honestly say that I have never been more excited for any of their folders. Ever!
Reasons:
1. Full flat grind VG-1 blades!!!
2. Tri-AD lock, which I've experienced on the American Lawman. This lock is simple, robust and STRONG. I've seen their Ultra-Lock develop blade play over the years, and traditional lockbacks aren't as confidence inspiring. This one, though, is frikkin' phenomenal in all aspects.
3. Better strength to weight ratio with skeletonized aluminum liners. While I appreciate previous CS strength claims bolstered by full steel liners on some of their folders, the sheer weight of the knife gets to be a hindrance to the point where I end up not carrying or using the knife. What good is an immensely strong knife if you're not going to carry it? This line of voyagers should find a nice balance.


I can't even tell you how much I am looking forward to getting my hands on one of those 4" clip points!!!

:thumbup: I agree. I know all the Coldsteel fans will hate me saying this, but I was just laughing with my buddy the other day how CS love to make chopping pork videos. I guess the 2010 voyager is actually the first CS knife that I really am looking forward to.

I tell ya, Cold Steel and CRKT could really be moving up the quality ladder, with the new Voyagers and the CRKT Onion Ripple.

The 3" and 4" models look really sweet. I think I'm going to grab both. I bet the pocket clip still sucks though

I just got a Spartan and am very impressed. I'll be waiting for a San Mai version. Oh... they are San Mai!

That was a great knife (p)review. I'd like to see more knife reviews like that in general. I may have to pick up either an XL Voyager or Vaquero. CS and CRKT move up the ladder while others are slowly withering away. An interesting time in the production knife industry for sure.
