The average viewer has no idea what proper technique looks like, so few would care.

I've seen far worse sword videos that also became far more popular.

Even Gunsite forwarded an idiotic sword demo on Facebook of a girl demonstrating insanely idiotic sword "techniques." This was going around a few years ago, and I suppose could be used as an easy way to screen which people on your friends' list has any idea how to use a sword. The "martial artist" demonstrated zero knowledge or skill with a sword and just did a weapons-themed gymnastics routine. It looked like some instructor with no sword training (and no common sense) gave a student a weapon and "taught" her these "skills." I somehow doubt Gunsite would approve of someone doing carthweels screaming and flailing with a 1911 and at times covering themselves with the muzzle.

Because only a women could use "I'm slightly better than the bottom of the barrel" to get a job.

If a man applied for a job using weapons, and their only qualification was "probably better than most keyboard warriors", they would be laughed out of the room.

Those sorts of double standards tend to breed animosity.

On a more serious note, a sword store selling Cold Steel swords had a note that the handle wrappings are loose on almost all the CS Japanese swords they sell and this is considered normal and most of those in their store have that issue.

Has anyone found this to be true and if so, just how loose are they? Would they come undone after a few training sessions?

I've own 6 to 7 different - warrior series katana, dragon fly wakizashi, jade lion gim and dagger, emperor katana - all handle wrappings are tight. My use has been limited to defeating the invisible ninjas in my home.

Unfortunately, T-Rip was not there to verify the invisible ninjas are REAL ! ! !
 
In my earlier posts I was more nasty than I should have been. I was angry because these videos seem to be mocking their own customers-- including people like me. I'm sure sticky and T'rap are perfectly fine people just trying to do a job they find silly. The problem is that it shows.
 
I think the chick was prob into knives, GSM wanted a pretty girl to hold their knives (Shoulda hired SharpxSweet or that reviewer girl who's like 20 but actually uses the knives unlike LFD) and she was seeing the opportunity like "Hell yeah!"

That CS mod guy is the one being careless round here.

Yes, but how many of those can or will lay out outrageous money for GSM‘s junk? I can certainly appreciate The girl without getting any sort of tingle in my wallet for Cold Steel. The company looks more like bud-k with every passing day. Frankly, their marketing is completely incompetent and ineffective.

The 2 videos linked in this thread just look like the old videos in many ways but with a young girl and higher production quality. I just see the same mall ninja wannabe advertising. The guy in the Katana video, not Lynn, was looking about as bad with the katana as the girl to me. Cold Steel advertising has always been terrible and what I have seen here isn't really any worse.

I won't hate on any one but Lynn, he started these terrible videos before selling the company, and the new management which has continued these terrible videos.
 
I have to disagree. I’m a huge fan of Lynn and the videos from his time. You really shouldn’t call them ‘terrible’ on a board of Cold Steel fans, who are also fans of Lynn Thompson, unless you just came to stir up trouble. If you don’t like the demonstrations there are more mature ways to go about saying so. Be polite.
