Cold Weather Coats

After 4 or 5 years I'm still impressed by my Cabela's Iditarod Anorak.
I don't wear it till it gets into the teens or it is too warm.
Puts the proof in windproof. Far lighter than my M65 field jacket.
The best part was getting it on sale the year before they were discontinued :)

I'm not exposed anymore like I used to when I worked outdoors in construction but what others here are saying is true...dress in layers.
Also, don't bet your life on one coat, especially if it's down. Down get wet, you gonna get cold. Period.
Wool get wet, you gonna stay somewhat warm.
I like my Carhartt artic lined bibs, coat, and coveralls. The black artic lining.

Busted, Okay they cost more than your average coat. Actually no, I'm just impressed how warm these coats are. No doubt they may not be for everybody and there are detractors but they are extremely well made and are covered by a lifetime warranty.

By the way I'm a big believer in that often you have to spend more to get more and I am willing to do that when it makes sense to me. This is one case when I believe it's worked out for me.
Canada Goose jackets are great quality. My 23yo has one and loves it. It is warm as hell.

I live just outside of Toronto and I can’t bring myself to buy one as almost every woman in my subdivision wears one (and many of the guys). If I didn’t live where they made the jackets, I might feel differently, but they are literally everywhere I look.

I stick to the down filled North Face, Burton or a Peacoat mainly.

That has to be one of the biggest complaints about them is that they have gotten so popular that you see them everywhere. I’m just glad to this point that’s not the way it is yet where I live.
