I m in. Thanks for a great GAW.
I like vintage knives and this is my oldest, a Binghamton Cutlery Corp. 1890’s swell end Jack. A decent restoration was done at some point in its life.
I’d like to jump in please. I’ve posted this knife before, several times. Grandad bought it new before shipping out in WWII. He carried it in the Seabees when he landed on Okinawa and the rest of his time during the war. It’s worked on Moose, Elk, Caribou, Blacktail, Whitetail, Mule deer, Antelope, Bear, Fish and who knows what else. Two weeks ago tomorrow I used it while quartering my buddies first elk. He gave me the knife back in 1997 while I was at his place on a bow hunt, the same year my first daughter was born. I’ve taken it on a lot of hunts myself and will continue to do so until it’s passed down or I’m buried with it.(everyone needs a good knife in the afterlife)
Not an entry, but I submit this as a sentimental knife. All the other knives of my youth have long ago disappeared, but this one found its way into a box of junk in my parents house. The kick on the clip blade is too short, so I notched the handle, about 50 years ago. I thought about evening out my primitive work, but I'm afraid to alter it now.
Friends, GAW’s are always fun for me, and again, I want to thank all of you who participated.
Took me a little bit to cut out all the entries, but here they are…
I had my wonderful wife draw a name…
