Cold weather means more carry options......

A revolver is probably the safest and quickest in a situation where you just have seconds to think and react.
On most autos, you have to remember the safety,
if you dont carry the auto with "one in the chamber", you have to pull the slide "all" the way back.
Some wont agree with this but when it is concealed and you are going to draw, make sure nothing depresses the magazine release lever.
I quit carrying a Colt Gov. 380 for this reason. Remember a LEO is alot different carry stuation than a Concealed Carry.
Wiith a revolver, none of the above have to be considered or remember in those couple of seconds.

Pokey, thesecare just a few considerations of just the "hardware" of concealed carry.
For the initial carry firearm, I will always recommend a revolver over a auto.

This is my "go to" EDC, Glock 22, for the past 20 years.

Sometimes I like these for carry:

You'd like the Airweight. It is a sweet little revolver! (And no, the SHMS isn't mine, but I now have one like it!) :D

Ahhh...a fellow X-Frame lover eh Garth? ;)

I have a Desantis Fieldmaster for mine...I can barely conceal it under a ski jacket though...and due to the slow follow ups I wouldn't carry it unless I was expecting to cross paths with a bear.

I've got a CTC lasergripped LCP in an AHolster in my right front pocket right now and a CS Rajah II in the other front pocket along with a spare mag.

In my GHB I have a G19 with two spare mags in a Safariland mag holder and a Sidearmor IWB and Glock Sport/Combat holster for the gun. I've also got a Draco with a 10rd mag. In each vehicle's trunk there are 4 30rd. mags loaded into a german mag pouch.

I figure if all that firepower isn't enough and there isn't time to get home to my .50BMG...I probably shouldn't have pissed it off in the first place.

BTW, on occasion I'll still carry a G19/G17/G20 IWB in a Sidearmor at 4.

I need to get me a little somethin'.. Any suggestions?

The first thing most males will suggest is a revolver. My wife HATES revolvers. In her Coronado Purse (best quality out there btw and Gun Toting Mommas aren't bad either)....she carries a G19 (Glock model 19) and has for the last 10 years or so. Less recoil, higher capacity, lighter trigger, easier to customize, TONS of holster options...should I go on?

But in the end you need to find what works for you. She is thinking of switching to a Ruger LCP after I've raved about mine but needs to get her tail to the range and try it out before she does.

My advice is not to buy what I or anyone else has suggested to you here. Instead go to a place that lets you try different guns, shoot a bunch, THEN decide what you are MOST ACCURATE WITH and prefer. Accuracy and confidence are the two things you are looking for...not pretty pink frames or the meanest looking piece... ;)

Good luck!! :)

Great pics and nice guns! Been spending most of my online time on firearm forums as of late since getting sucked into this new hobby... Haven't bought a Busse since October :eek::eek: (bring the NMFSH already!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Have only had my CCW for a month and a half now, but have been religiously carrying my Glock 26 - such a versatile, fun and accurate little gun and I love it so far - almost 2k rounds and not a single issue.

Now that its been getting quite a bit cooler these past few weeks, I've started carrying my Glock 30 or Ruger SP101 quite a bit more or sometimes add a G19 mag with sleeve to my G26. If it was winter jacket weather here, I'd find a way to carry my 4" 686+ :D

Been thinking of adding a full-sized Sig - shot one and really enjoyed it - but, not sure if I want to add in a hammer fired/new trigger when I am already very used to my Glocks...

I started my wife with a revolver. She came from a gun free background and never shot anything until we got married. Being on the road a lot I wanted something she could have at the house in case a problem came up. Since then she has ventured into a lot of different guns. Lately she has been carrying a Walther PK380 and that work well for her.

Like others have said though, when it comes to a firearm for you, go with what you are comfortable with. Shoot as many different guns as you can get your hands on and choose something that you can shoot well.

If interested Pokey, I have a "few" guns you can try out to see if something trips your trigger.

hot or cold i usually carry this low capacity glock 36. i could go hi cap but i figure with a 100 rounds of .45 i could get her done if needed. anymore than this and i would have trouble concealing this piece.

Wow, I never realized how many options I have! From what i'm hearing, I guess the best thing I could do is go to a shop and check out which ones feel the best. It really helped hearing everyone's opinions, so thank you!!

Hi Pokey1 -

Glock makes a nice ultra compact chambered in .40 SW and .45.

I am selling my Glock 23 and picking up one of these beauties in the next couple of months.

I want to consolidate calibers - so I will get the RCP in .45 to eliminate one more round I have to keep on hand.

best regards -

For those who like HKs (I do not need to mention Busse, everybody likes Busse). The FFBM is carried in the backpack of course.
